Kingofmyrrh 0
I was in Okutadami for the first time this weekend and had a pretty good time despite some neutral to negative reviews on SJ. Maybe a little too small for a full weekend but a great day's skiing. To even up the balance I thought I'd throw in my own review, have a look if you feel like it: http://www.snowjapan.com/e/voice/readrer...fecture=Niigata I'm curious to hear what other forum members who have been there thought about it. Stuntcok 0
Okutadami runs a good park. They have 2 or 3 good lines with good flow all leading to spines or hips on the bottom. The diggers groom it twice a day.
ProbablyaCrazyPerson 2
Thankas for the review. Interesting how that place gets to be able to be open for so long. It closes in mid-winter usually I believe - did it this year, i don't suppose there was as much snow up there.
taguchi 0
I have been few times and for late spring ski it is good trip I think. This year also they closed mid-winter.
Yuki's Passion 1
>The diggers groom it twice a day. didnt get in a park once this year How often do they groom parks? What would be considered well-groomed?
Kumapix 0
how far is this place from Hakuba? I want to try to get up there
dale#1 1
Far! It's to the north of the Yuzawa area in Niigata. I think about 30 mins from the Koide IC of the Kanetsu Expressway, which in itself is about 40 minutes drive north of Yuzawa. I suppose from your area you'd be coming from the north, so I'd say Koide is about 30 minutes south from Nagaoka.
invisibleman 0
If you are going from Hakuba on the normal routes (>Nagano >Nozawa >Tsunan >) it is probably 45-60 minutes further on than if you were going over to Yuzawa.
lin 0
Quote: It closes in mid-winter usually I believe What is the reason for that - snow blocking the route?
1 4
I was told it was due to huge amounts of snow making it not work clearing the road and resort in mid-winter. They talk up the early and late season as being what they are good at. In mid season people would probably choose somewhere else rather than Okutadami.
