farquah 0
Haven`t made the leap yet from chains to tyres but thinking about buying for this season. Going to shop around a bir though as seems that they are real expensive here, and vary in price from garage to garage.
Hokkaidough 4
They were put on Nov 05. I think I'll be needing new ones next season.
soubriquet 0
The rubber is a soft compound designed to operate well in cold and wet conditions, so they tend to wear quickly. Also, the block tread patterns squirm under high cornering loads, so they develop higher slip angles than summer tyres. Also, they are much noisier than summer tyres. Apart from that, they`re fine
tsondaboy 0
I don’t know much about snow tires, but you seem to have some experience soubriquet. Have you got any advice on what type should I be looking for or things I should avoid?

muikabochi 208
Yeah they've been around for a while already. Gotten warmer again today after some real chilly and wet days.
tsondaboy 0
Can anyone give me some advice on snow tires? Anything is ok, should I go for the cheapest ones or should I avoid them and go for something better?
bushpig 0
I personally would avoid the ultra-cheap ones and go for the middle-range ones. My philosophy is that it's best not to skimp on car safety related stuff.
tsondaboy 0
Any recomendations Bushpig, which ones you use?
bushpig 0
I'll check when I get home Tsondaboy. Can't remember off the top of my head. The guys at the shop I go to were pretty honest about which ones are better quality than others. Might pay to ask them.
tsondaboy 0
I have to get the car to the dealer for the 15000 km service/shaken etc sometime next month. I was planning to ask him what he recommends since he is a really honest guy, but still I would like to get a second opinion from someone that has experience with snow tires. bushpig 0
I don't think you'll have any probs quality wise, especially if you go for middle-range stuff. I'll let you know what I have anyway. BTW, was very happy with them in Hakuba last Shogatsu.
tsondaboy 0
Cheers bushpig.
soubriquet 0
The tyres on soubriquette's car are Bridgestone blizzaks. They have a really good reputation. I find them excellent. There are some interesting winter driving articles, including one on tyres here .
tsondaboy 0
thx for the link sub.
bushpig 0
hey, yeah blizzaks are pretty good. I just checked, and I have Autobacs own North Trek tyres. I remember the guy pointing out to me and recommending that amongst a number of other brands at that price range, so he wasn't pushing their own brand on me at all.
