Markie 0
If it snows anywhere in Hokkaido, Kiroro is sure to get it first. Kiroro You can just see a little snow left on the slopes. As that link is a livecam all the snow has now melted....but will reappear soon I hope.

slow 0
I want to see the picture of Kurodake lightly dusted with first snow but can't find it... However, I found Mr Wiggles posted this on the same date three years ago. I really enjoy SJ forum database/research these days. http://www.snowjapanforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/4108.html? Toque, here is the info about Daisetsuzan, playground for the BC skiers in Hokkaido. http://wikitravel.org/en/Daisetsuzan_National_Park Quote: Daisetsuzan National Park (大雪山国立公園 Daisetsuzan-kokuritsukōen, also pronounced Taisetsuzan; [1]) is located in the mountainous center of the island of Hokkaido. At 2267.64 square kilometers, Daisetsuzan is the largest national park in Japan. The name means Great Snowy Mountain(s), an apt description of these peaks - 15 of them over 2000 meters - that offer some of the most rugged hiking in Japan. The Ainu name for Daisetsuzan translates to "playground for the gods"

Markie 0
Hi Hokkaidough. I've only been to Kiroro once but will definitely be going again. I loved staying at the Piano Hotel there. Nagpants, it may be all melted away the next day but it does snow there quite often early on in the season so I like to check it out every morning before I go to work just to lift my spirits. Even without snow, that place looks great.

Ezorisu 0
Rainy and cold in Sapporo today, in fact rainy almost all over Hokkaido. As of now there's light snowfall over most of the Daisetsuzan Sanmyaku (including Asahidake). Don't know how long it'll linger before melting though...
