bong 0
When I was at Ishiuchi recently I noticed what looked like (surely!) a ski jump - on the far left Yuzawa side of the resort. It didn't look open at all..... do they use that?
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted April 27, 2006 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted April 27, 2006 Good question! I had noticed that myself but never really knew the story behind it. I've just spoken to the resort and this is what I found out. The jump facility is actually currently owned and managed by Minamiuonuma-shi (the city that is made up of what used to be Shiozawa town, Muikamachi town and Urasa) - not the Ishiuchi Maruyama ski resort. Apparently it hasn't been used for a number of years, but it will be used in 2009 for the "kokutai" event in Niigata and that is one of the reasons why at the moment Minamiuonuma-shi is currently trying to transfer ownership to Niigata-ken. Thanks to Ishiuchi Maruyama for that info.

muikabochi 208
I had never noticed that! Would love to have a go at a small (very small!) jump
snowboarding-sam 0
I had noticed it when I've been there and wondered why it was never used, I thought it was part of the resort. Still snow at the bottom there, that surprises me.
7-11 2
Talking of ski jumps - how often do they make use of the one at Happo?
misorano 1
Wasn't used at all this winter. Quite a bit of activity last summer though. It's open as a tourist attraction and you can actually go up to a viewing platform at the top of both jumps. Not for the fennt hearted though as the stairs up are mesh and it's a long way down.
