numafuz 0
Where would you say are the best resorts in southern Nagano? I've taken a look at the resort reviews and stuff, thought people might have some extra comments.
mattlucas 0
There was some pretty good talk on this last year. Maybe somebody could do a quick search.
Fattwins 0
the best is norikura onsen kogen.
V 0
I have a friend who is moving to Yamanashi soon and so hoping to visit him there - not too far from these places I think.
Fattwins 0
southern nagano is not all that good.
Oyuki kigan 0
I liked this little place that my friend works at called Yachiho. Its off the Koumi line, which runs from Hokuto 'city' in Yamanashi to Komoro in Nagano. Its a small place with only a couple lifts and about as many runs, but a beatiful view and nice local atmosphere.
@tokyo 14
I often start off thinking about going to places like that but always seem to end up deciding that the extra hour is worth it and head up further north.
grungy-gonads 54
How long does it take to drive from the southern border of Nagano to, say, Hakuba. About 90 minutes??
Fattwins 0
about 90 to 2hours I suppose. Nozawa about the same amountof time because the highway takes you pretty much there.
merryJim 1
Unless you're really driving fast, I'd say 2 hours is pretty much normal.
sava 0
To complement merryJim and Fattwins' post, it should be noted that if it is taking 90 hours, you should possible drive faster
rach 1
Haha, Yeah it's about 2 hours.
slow 0
I like Kurumayama. It's beautiful view from the top of the mountain. I think I've been to Echo Valley for nighta. If you are a racer, southern Nagano is good to practice. High percentage of fine weather, hard icy slopes. Nobeyama is very popular ski resort for racers.
yamayamayama 2
I went there (Kurumayama) once as well slow I thought it was ok, not sure if I'd go out of my way to go there though - I was with a group trip.
numafuz 0
It took me a while to respond (sorry!), but - thanks!
gamera 0
If you had a car and drive it all the way to some southern nagano resorts, maybe Fujimi, Kuruma-yama etc are worth trying if it's from Numazu. When you try Kurumayama, just drive slow and safe. It's a continuous uphill to the slope, continuous downhill when you leave there.
grungy-gonads 54
But I recommend driving an hour further up north and sampling those delights
