You also have to sign up for a plan and potentially have to pay 500-600¥ /month. Not sure about other smartphones though. AU also charges now for tethering, but for new customers, there is a 2 year grace period where it is free. Strange one... Link to post Share on other sites

It is an extra 500 yen or so. How is the speed on the iPad while tethered to the phone? I had the pocket wifi before and it pretty much sucked at that time.
