The FOOTBALL Thread (2012-2013)

Uefa has charged Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson failed to attend the press conference following his side's Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid. Nani also faces proceedings due to the red card he received during the last-16 second leg at Old Trafford. He will receive a minimum of a one-match ban. Rio Ferdinand is still waiting to hear if he has any possible sanctions to answer for his sarcastic applause of the referee Cuneyt Cakir at the end of the match.

A Uefa statement said: "Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Manchester United FC for [the] red card of Nani [and] post-match media obligations not fulfilled [under] III 2.6 and 2.7 of the competition regulations. The case will be dealt with by the Uefa control and disciplinary body on Thursday 21 March."

Seems fair enough.

Nani should be banned for 6 months.

Sir Fergie should be banned from the touchline for 12 months and fined 500,000GBP.

United should be struck from the Champions League for all of next season.

And that referee will get a medal for his endeavors.

What a bunch of complete bellends.

Images coming in from Man Utd

Breaking News!   Apparently, Robin Van Persie has failed a medical at Manchester United. He has a severely damaged back after carrying a full squad last season.

Yey.   Beer and snacks ready

AT 5.30pm on Tuesday, Wayne Rooney realised his days at Old Trafford were numbered.

Stunned and alone with his thoughts, he had just been told he would not be starting in Manchester United’s biggest game of the season.

Instead he would join the rest of the world watching.

Loyal wife Coleen was stunned and tweeted: “Can’t believe @WayneRooney isn’t starting tonight!!!”

The posting was quickly removed as she claimed a lack of football knowledge for her outburst.

For those who missed that story of irresponsibly tomfoolery

A teenage football supporter who rang 999 to complain about the referee during Manchester United's defeat by Real Madrid has apologised to police.

The 18-year-old United fan, who watched the Champions League match on TV, was so disgusted by the Turkish referee Cun-t Cakir's decision to send off the United forward Nani that he contacted emergency operators to claim a "crime" had occurred. The armchair fan, who has not been named, rang 999 at around 9.20pm on Tuesday night from his home in a village near Bingham, Nottinghamshire.

What do we reckon. Rooney our Ronnie back in? That would be interesting for sure.

The mood was altered in a moment. Jose Mourinho, like the great opportunistic coach that he is, sensed the shift in momentum and introduced Luka Modric, who scored the equaliser while Cristiano Ronaldo finished off the job and ended United's interest in the Champions League at the last-16 stage.

Great mastermind indeed. No-one else would have thought that United seeing red and boiling in anger might be a golden chance to win.

Truly remarkable instincts.

Serious repercussions for that rerf. I would't be surprised if he met with an auto accident back in Turkey courtesy of the gambling underworld. Or he just may retire with his million dollar pay off.
