muikabochi 208
The train stations on the local line after the tunnel are: Tsuchitaru Yuzawa Nakazato - basically base to the Nakazato skijo Iwappara Skijo Ekimae - but about 1km from the skijo Echigo Yuzawa
SKI 15
Quite like that top quad area, had lots of fun there in years past.
klingon 10
Funny how the Iwappara one is called "ski jo mae" when it's a fair trek down to the skijo. The Joetsu Kokusai has a "ski jo mae" station too doesn't it? Though that one really is just in front.
fruity-sachi 1
It brings back memories. My first ski was at Iwappara. Were there many school trip there?
muikabochi 208
Actually yes there were quite a few on the main central slopes. I have said it before but I think that main central slope area at Iwappara is the perfect place for beginners.
Tubby Beaver 209
agreed. I also think the beginner slope at Kandatsu Kogen is good as well, gradient is mellow enough to not scare the bejesus out of noobs but steep enough for the board to want to travel downhill.....its also pretty wide, just be careful for the river that is far skiers left!! muikabochi 208
Yes I suppose it is, but it's just not as big and wide as Iwappara. I stay clear of that lot. If you go to Iwappara just use the top quad!
7-11 2
While it is good for beginners, is there enough there for someone who needs more of a challenge?
ippy 66
how is kandatsu. Im actually meaning to sneak in a run there at some point. It actually looks like it has a decent ride to it.
muikabochi 208
Hmmm not enough really 7-11, though like I said I do like zooming down from that top lift. Kandatsu is a small, compact place that does actually offer some steep parts, but generally short runs. On weekdays they close off their best course (well, I think it is) and it annoys me. Saitaman 1
Kandatsu is small and compact yes with short courses. Quite a lot of ungroomed area when I went and fairly steep bits too that hardly anyone was touching. I thought it was ok but I don't think I'll go again.
