pie-eater 207
Sadly there was no interview with Metabo.
Metabo Oyaji 71
Thanks for the heads up! I caught the last half of the report, from where they were interviewing the pension owner. I arrived a little too late for the cameras. I did see them interviewing others. But don't worry, you wouldn't have missed much had they caught me. Face would have broken the camera... And what I would have said was said by other people they interviewed. I recognize the staff shown. Gambare folks.
Metabo Oyaji 71
868 people on the first day.... Double the number from the first day last season. Hurray! ...though it should be noted that the first day last season was a Wednesday, while this year it was a Sunday. The following Sunday last year was much more crowded than this year's Sunday opening was. (See my trip report from last year: http://www.snowjapanforums.com/index.php/topic/19502-fukushima-20102011/ ) But still, good.

muikabochi 208
I just about caught that was well. You didn't miss much Metabo Oyaji, just going on about readings and the artificial snow. Hope the cost of all that lot is worth it!
Metabo Oyaji 71
Thanks muika. I wonder how much the snow cannons cost to operate for, say, one day.
fukdane 2
Surprised to hear about the snow machines - that must cost a lot.

Metabo Oyaji 71
Adatara Kogen's opening, originally planned for 12/10, will be delayed due to lack of snow.
akitapow 1
Man, I'm up here in Tohoku and I've never been down to Fukushima to ski yet You got any suggestions on ski-jos to hit up?

frannyo 2
I'm not trying to stir as I don't know, but doesn't the fact that about 1/3 of Alts is not opening this season diminish it's appeal? Or do people just not realise that?
Tubby Beaver 209
yeah but I didn't like that side too much anyway, it was all superpipe and kickers etc. Snow is not looking so good anywhere on Honshu as far as I know....gotta wait a little bit more
nippontiger 8
Check out Bandai Nekoma - it tends to get the best snow in the area, very little is roped off and there's hardly anybody there!
grungy-gonads 54
I'm not trying to stir as I don't know, but doesn't the fact that about 1/3 of Alts is not opening this season diminish it's appeal? Or do people just not realise that? Not been so wouldn't know. Is it just superpipe and park like the Tubby said? (Not doubting you really, Tubby. Just checking y'know
Tubby Beaver 209
Thats all I can remember about that side, it was all mostly large park features that I wasn't riding anyway
Metabo Oyaji 71
akitapow: This is a good use for the new search tool: http://www.snowjapanresorts.com/ Besides ALTS and Nekoma, there are also fun bits at Inawashiro, Grandeco and Adatara Kogen. Minowa looks potentially intriguing too, if small. South of Aizu Wakamatsu there are some places that seem to get good reviews, though never been myself.
Metabo Oyaji 71
ALTS Bandai has now specified an opening date of 12/28, rather than simply "late December."
