muikabochi 208
Oh it's not that big Mamabear (it does involve a "3" somewhere). My parents just said that this year they wanted to get me a present that I wanted.
HelperElfMissy 42
[in my best condescendingly outraged voice] .....a.....THREE!..... now that is just mean muika,....just mean .... you hear me?

muikabochi 208
500mm > 400mm (and the current Nikkor needs updating). 90000 yen < 150000 yen. Pretty decent reviews. Fairly easy decision really, party pooper.

muikabochi 208
Arrived on Saturday, thursday. Only some simple playing around so far. Need to buy a tripod. This one was taken using it on 500.
thursday 1
ah yes, the Tanigawadake assignment. Nice work.
muikabochi 208
Nothing special but this weekend I hope to get a tripod and give it a good workout, see what I can get on it.
Yuki's Passion 1
have been looking at the Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8 as a wide angle lense, but its as much as a car, or as much as a Rolex (cheap one). Does anybody have a wide angle which is comparable and you would recommend?
thursday 1
you gotta be careful with that lens. You can have a filter as it bulges out. I've tried that on the D700. Very nice, and very heavy too.
Yuki's Passion 1
yeah, its a huge piece isnt it? You got anything similar that is in the same ballpark Thurs? I wish I had picked up the D200 when I got my D80 now understanding the differences, and would like a D300 but not going to fork out for the body.
thursday 1
I suppose you are not going for the DX range because you see yourself going to full frame later on? There are infact quite a few DXs with similar range: this new one 10-24mm The only non-DX that comes close is this 17-35mm
muikabochi 208
I love my 12-24mm - it takes really sharp pictures. Might be confusing myself, but it seems the new 10-24mm is cheaper than the 12-24. Why might that be?
muikabochi 208
Ah here's what Ken says Quote: Compared to the 12-24mm which it replaces, the 10-24mm is more cheaply built. The 12-24mm was built to semi-pro standards, but this new 10-24mm feels more dinky and I suspect will break if you bang the front of it into anything hard enough. Hey, few people really need lenses that will last 75 years; if you do, you can still buy brand-new manual-focus AI-s lenses that will last longer than any of us. How important is 10mm versus 12mm? I'm all about wide. 10mm lets you get closer to create images with deeper perspective and even more power than the 12mm end of the 12-24mm. Sharpness, distortion and all that mean nothing compared to the superior point-of-view you can get with a wider lens. I don't know about you, but every shot I make with my 12-24mm is at the 12mm stop. Hooray for pushing that back to 10mm! These two silly little millimeters are everything; everything else is far less important than the stronger images I can make with those two less millimeters. So the build... wonder how much difference those 2mm make? Better not look into it, will only tempt me! Hate it when things I have get updated/upgraded!
thursday 1
do what I did with my last camera. Let the 12-24 go, get the new one. I'm sure we need that extra less 2 mm
BagOfCrisps 24
Do second hand lenses get good cash then?
Yuki's Passion 1
yes, lenses do, but camera bodies dont. Some lenses dont sell much less than retail price used, so youre better off buying them new anyways.
BagOfCrisps 24
Seems a bit strange that people would buy 2nd hand then if the price ain't much different.....
