Got a friend having some really tough times right now. Trying to put together some good motivational/inspirational type quotes for something I plan for her. Got a few for starters, any more good ones please share.

Cheers

I believe motivational speeches have the opposite effect. Plus, every one of these are easily said than done.. Are you one of those churchie types? well...I don't know you and the girl so I can't say. No one likes to be patronized, you know what I mean.

If you really care about her, just shut up and listen and don't say anything.

Recommend her to get some professional help.

first one: happiness is a feeling!

2nd: Fu(kin work ethic bollocks

3rd: so obvious

4th: and keep getting deeper into hell WTF!

Sorry mate, I think you need help.. someone give him a good one!

I haven't changed the thread title. If any one post after you about a different topic, it's gone!

That's what I did. You became not the latest post. BUT your tread title is unchanged and there in the Off Topic- General listing. What's your problem mate?

cheers.

Plenty of people going through rough times at the moment ... and not all of them coz of the economy. I have friends whose remaining life span can be counted in days, and others struggling to get over the loss of a partner, others round the clock nursing thier ill children.

Inspirational quotes are all good and that, but they are not usually what people want or need at those dark times. Some might need to be taken out for a coffee just to have a break, others just want to be included, some might find great help in having a casserole dropped off so they dont have to cook dinner for the family that night...

Practical help.

I cant say it enough -practical help!!! Real stuff.

No offence, but "really hard time" could be anything as Mama says. Advice for someone whose mother has Parkinson's is a bit different to someone getting a divorce or losing their job. People with financial problems need expert help, not fancy words. In every country there are citizens advice type places to help you. Going bankrupt even is far from the end of the world provided you seek help soon enough and don't let the psychological pressure build up. Lots of people come through the process relatively unscathed. As for illness or bereavement, I think the road is much longer, but there are lots of support groups out there for many specific situations. There will be people out there going through exactly the same thing.

Motivation is really for people with something they don't want to do, be that study, music practice, dieting, physical training, or a long boring work project. For times when the goal is far and its hard to see any short-term benefit. People with genuine problems are better off seeking advice.

Hey, guys, cool it a bit! The attitude in your posts is ferocious and does neither of you any favours.

Jynxx, OW asked a question, there was no need to get agro about it.

perhaps that's already been done, but on the off chance it hasn't, and you have trouble getting a Ford Escort, then you may have to put yourself out wink
