foreversnow 5
Can I please ask what may be a ridiculous question?? Why have they got Tarps on the roof?? There isn't anyone living in them so are they just trying to preserve them or what??
brit-gob 9
Protect during winter? Though how that would protect, I do not know. Wasn't there in last years photos.

muikabochi 208
It's part of Nagaoka city. To the south-east of the city. Just in the hills off Route 17 behind Kawaguchi town. From where I live, it's about 45 minutes drive I suppose.
HelperElfMissy 42
Perhaps tarps are on for a short time while restoration work is going on...?
69 5
Looks like one of them llama like things they have in the Andes (?) Can't think of the name. I'm sure it's not "llama like thing".
thursday 1
if they've made it into a place of interest, then the tarps would be there to protect against water until so sort of water proofing can be done/afforded. Just a guess. Unless of course some dude has moved back in.
muikabochi 208
Went through Yamakoshi today. Here's the latest on those houses. Getting a lot of growth round them Had a chat with one of the long term locals. Apparently nothing is being done to "save" these as some kind of memorial and there are calls for them to be brought down and the area cleared up. One group want that to happen and another want it to be preserved as some kind of earthquake memorial and install a little museum type place. So there's a bit of arguing going on. muikabochi 208
I don't know actually, haven't heard. But they haven't taken the houses out. There always seems to be quite a few people about when I have been and something going on.
