for your just 0
Just what is the point of the 6am 'ding dong ding dong. ding dong ding dong' siren that goes off every single morning at 6am on our town office. I live 1.5km away and I can still hear the thing. I just cannot understand the reason for it. If people want to wake up at 6am, surely they can just set their alarms. snowdude 44
I have that in my small village in Nagano where I got my second house! When I first moved there the alarm sounded at crack on 6am, I soon cured that problem, just simply switched of the intercom in my house, after that quite, can't here a thing. I just switch on sometimes during the day if there is an announcement, then straight back off again after. And I live only a 3 minute walk from the village office. Not sure if your house or area is the same? I think it is an early morning call for the farmers, although actually most are up before 6am anyway.
Tubby Beaver 209
hahaha....that would suck!! Where I live they have a "going home song", 5pm in summer and 4.30pm in Winter, apparently its to tell schoolkids that they should be at home....didn't know Pavlov did research on people!! BagOfCrisps 24
Do the farmers not have alarm clocks then?

Perhaps in the next couple of decades. But still, better than someone running down the street shouting, like the days before loudspeakers.
Fattwins 0
I love it. When you are working you always know the time 6am wake up 10am break 12 pm lunch 3pm break 6pm going home Small towns wont change this as the system is also used for public awareness announcements. Yes this is exactly the same as the village I am in in Nagano. I think it is good as it's a good reminder when to stop for lunch, breaks, etc. Weekend the 6am wake up call sucks if you want to lay in, but where my house is located, as long as I have the tannoy switched off in my house weekends I can't here the announcements or anything anyway. This reminds me of my working days back in the UK, when the companies sound a bell at 10am and 3pm for tea breaks. Everyone looked forward to the breaks.
HelperElfMissy 42
LOL...I noticed the siren go off every morning in Tokyo, but I had no idea what it was - thought it might be a burgler alarm!! funny!
scouser 4
It's totally annoying and totally unnecessary. The one near me sounds like some crappy midi file and on a Sunday morning it is most most unwelcome. Actually, on any morning I don't want to hear it. I also would like to know the reason for it. HoTRoD 2
If I lived near, I would be making some midnight journeys with clippers.

BigBoned 0
I live a fair distance from ours, but can still hear it easy. Luckily if I am asleep it doesn't usually wake me up but it is annoying.
ProbablyaCrazyPerson 2
I had a busy (fun) weekend and was looking forward to sleeping in until lunchtime this morning and enjoy a lazy national holiday. The 6am town hall call and then the fire practice sirens soon put a stop to that.
