OkemoLoon 0
You do really have to get there early, that place gets chopped up fast. By 10 the slopes seemed crowded to me, but there were no lift ques.
Tubby Beaver 209
I thought the same. The slope was chopped up and busy but there were no lift lines of any note

Tubby Beaver 209
If you take the JR package though you get a reserved seat. If anyone is sitting in it then they will either move or have a large Tubby beaver flaked out in their lap!!
tsondaboy 0
Its not going to be easy to find a seat in the early trains to Yuzawa from now on, unless you plan 2-3 weeks in advance... Also the way back is even worst no seats available before 14:00. Thats why sometimes standing on the corridor is the only way.

Tubby Beaver 209
Next week I'm out somewhere, just dunno where yet, gonna wait and check out the forecast before making anything concrete
Tubby Beaver 209
Is the lift ticket for Kagura good for Tashiro as well??
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted December 12, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 12, 2007 Tubby Beaver - yes it is. 1 day is 4000 yen and that is ok for all areas of Kagura. If you want Naeba as well, pay 5000 yen and you can ride the lot on one ticket. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/spotlight/mount-naeba.html
Tubby Beaver 209
I've just noticed that snow is forecast for the end of this week, maybe I'll head back up that way again, but this time check out Tashiro. SJF, you don't know how much a taxi ride would be from Yuzawa eki do you? If I have to take the later train I'd rather not wait in the long bus line again
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted December 12, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 12, 2007 Hmmm not sure but probably about 2000 yen I would guess to Mitsumata, more for Tashiro. If you could find someone to share with.... What time would it be? We might be able to take you this weekend..
Tubby Beaver 209
The train gets into Yuzawa station around 9.30. This weekend is ok anyway as I'll prob be with 2 mates so a taxi ride isn't such a big deal. I won't know for sure until Friday though who is coming with me or where I'm gonna go. The weather reports seem to be changing every 5 minutes!!
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted December 12, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 12, 2007 Me and SJ1 plan to maybe be up there this weekend, going in SJ1's car, but we were planning to be there quite a bit before 9:
tsondaboy 0
TB stay in line for the Jiyu-seki no reservation seat and get on an early train.
Tubby Beaver 209
I want to be up ther for way before that as well. I may just do that Tsonda, get up there a wee bit earlier and get in line. Is there any place to put your board, I just stowed mines on the overhead rack, but I remember someone saying something about places between the cars to put stuff.....maybe they were just taking the piss! Tubby Beaver 209
Does the conductor check tickets in the unreserved section? I didn't get asked for my ticket when on the train, but that was in the reserved section and the conductor did take a note of seat details.
tsondaboy 0
You can put it in between the cars. They have something like a storage space for large sized luggage. I usually stow it on the rack above my seat or next to the wall behind the last seats of the car.
OkemoLoon 0
TB, I will ether be going to Kagura for a day trip or Hakuba for both days, I won't know for sure until tomorrow night. Ether way your welcome to ride along.
