mina2 6
This is more like it, I'm fed up of all these silly short sentences for huge crimes: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A Swiss man has been jailed for 10 years after pleading guilty to charges of insulting the Thai king. Oliver Jufer, 57, was arrested last December after drunkenly spray-painting portraits of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the northern city of Chiang Mai. Earlier this month, he pleaded guilty to five charges under Thailand's draconian lese majeste law. Judge Phitsanu Tanbukalee said that he received a reduced sentence since he had admitted his guilt. "This is a serious crime, and he was sentenced to four years for each of five counts, for a total of 20 years," he said.
thursday 1
far too lenient.
bobby12 0
I'd have given him four years for each word, never mind each portrait. Hehe, he must be feeling quite the fool now. I've actually considered doing that spray painting thing several times on the politicians posters here in Japan. Always confuses me why none of the kids do that.
YellowSnow 0
Because they are afraid of the very right wing Japanese. People generally see Yakuza as being bullies and not to mess with, but they will still buy takoyaki from a yak. People in their 20s who are wanting to rebel a bit are far more afraid of the Right wingers or even the Kaku Maru. Also Japanese people become very outspoken when you break the rules. Try putting your rubbish out at the wrong time in the wrong place and you will have somebody shout at you. When Japanese are confident in their position they really come out of their shells. muikabochi 208
Definitely I find that too. All about knowing your position. 10 years? I wonder if he will serve all of that. From what I remember hearing, Thai prisons are rather strict.
YellowSnow 0
For me I would do everything to escape, when laws protect one man above another then I dont let myself be bound by that law
kintaro 0
I could give a fk less about the emotional sentiment of the king of Thailand.Real crimes --rape, murder, child porn etc. deserve much more attention. I can only hope his majesties feelings can recover.
daver 0
the guy deserves it for being an imbecile. it shouldn't take long whilst in thailand to notice thais are rather passionate about their royal family.
SirJibAlot 0
that's not as bad as the US Homeland security officers that are going to jail for shooting a drug smuggler in the ass. That just makes me downright ANGRY.
Ezorisu 0
Wasn't he an "illegal, border-crossing" drug smuggler at that? If they knew they would go to jail for it anyway, they should have shot him somewhere other than in the ass!
thursday 1
I woulda thought Rodney Kinging him (without the camera) would've been enough.
