ncorrenti 0
I accidentally knocked a candle off the coffee table and now there's purple wax stuck in the dark blue carpet. We tried sponging it out with hot water but there's still a noticable purplish stain. If my apartment manager sees it we'll probably lose our bond Does anyone know how I can get rid of the wax completely or at least make it less noticable?
TimRide30x 0
my girl friend forgot about the red candle she'd lit on the dinner table. a heap of wax ended up on the carpet. sorry I can't give helpful advice - we never managed to completely clean it up - it was a real bugger. not sure how we managed to get all our bond back, but we did. google maybe? http://www.asktooltalk.com/home/qanda/faq/removal/candlewax.htm
indosnm 0
pro cleaners... might be cheaper than losing ya bond
ncorrenti 0
TimRide, thanks for the link. Might try using the iron and see if it works. Indo, yep, if we can't get it out we'll have to call in the pros. Hopefully I can get the majority out myself though.
sakebomb 0
Try an iron and some newspaper. Just throw the newspaper on top of the wax and iron it...with a bit of luck it maybe absorbed from the carpet onto the newspaper.
fb_steve 0
Or the same sakebomb said but with baking paper that worked on my jeans!
ncorrenti 0
Yep we used an iron and baking paper - a little came out but unfortunately most of the wax has sunk deep into the carpet. We're going to keep trying though. Thanks guys!
quattro 1
Try some stuff called "goo gone" its a citrus based cleaner. Dont know if you can get it over here. You may have to have some someone from the states send it over. It should clean it up.
ncorrenti 0
Someone at work just suggested that - we have a version here in Aus called "Goo Remover". I'm worried it might strip the colour out of the carpet though. Will check it out!
tsondaboy 0
You can also try the wax remover for floors. I use it to clean the base of the board from old wax, this thing is good for any kind of wax. Just dissolve it with some water and was topically whit it. Make sure though you try it first on some edge of the carpet to check if the carpet colour comes of too. You can find this thing in most of the home centers, I bought mine in Tokyu Hands. Kraut_in_HongKong 0
Have you tried a google on "wax removal"? Ironing with newspaper is not bad. But I suggest some cotton cloth or tissue paper. The absorbtion is better. Newspaper may leave black print marks. Another option is to cut it out with a sharp knive, and fit in a piece you cut out from another carpet area, maybe from under the sofa or under a cupboard.
ncorrenti 0
Wow, you guys are handy! Tsondaboy, thanks, I will add that to my list of things to try. I'm hopefull that at least one of them will work!
ncorrenti 0
This is what is left after three goes with the iron and paper. I think it's time I tried the goo remover/wax remover.
damian 0
http://www.a2zcarpet.com/candlewax.htm Nice toes. Can I come to your next candle wax party? Does it hurt much?
fb_steve 0
Nicole, the wax is probably harder to get out becuase it's coloured and would contain dyes or scents!?
ncorrenti 0
Spud, ok but remember, BYO candles. fb, you got it. The carpet actually smells very rank in that spot... like a combination of burning carpet and something else I can't identify.
damian 0
All righty! Hey Creek Boy: see where a 3kg jar of Nutella can get you. Jealous?

ncorrenti 0
Hmm still looks pretty much the same as in the photo. Haven't gotten around to trying the goo remover yet. BF chipped a tile in the kitchen during the week too. We can't win!
