"Internet" or "internet"?

Like this thing is confusing for me. Sometimes I see word like internet with capital "I" and sometimes small "i" (mid sentence). Which is correct and why?

Taguchi. The rule is very simple. Internet is a noun, and nouns do not take a capital "I" unless at the start of a sentence. The exception is when the noun is a "proper noun", that is the actual name of someone or something. Therefore the person known as Ocean11 (proper noun) lives in Matsuyama (proper noun).

But the Internet is a proper noun, so it does. Unless it's a poxy little internet that nobody's heard of, in which case it doesn't.

In theory yes. However, there is no right or wrong with English, only preferred usage. As long as we communicate successfully, the jpb is done.

Whatever happened to the 'Information Super Highway'? That always struck me as a very inappropriate sort of metaphor. Although there was a fair amount of roadkill on it in the 90s.
