  3. Hey FreoBhoy... You should check out the Hakuba internet thread for some interesting discussion on this topic!! Maybe let Domokun know there is a demand... I am not sure - we lug the laptop. But what I can vouch for is the speed and reliability of the internet in Niseko. At our accomodation it was LITERALLY plug and play - no adjusting settings or anything - PERFECT! When ya going?
  4. I can't speak for Hakuba - never having been - but Niseko has lots of business that are there for the winter only... I know that there is signifigant logistics in transporting the hardware (computers, chairs blah blah) in for the winter and out again - but I would think that there would be a demand for something like this in some of the SOuthern Hemisphere Snow locations as well... We had a devil of a job access internet at Thredbo this year - the places we stayed were not in the wireless catchment area, depsite paying for scratchy access cards... You would not need to set up a year rou
  5. I think it was rejected STATE side - not in Oz. It might have been the package with the Yaktrax - I bought them for Mr Injuredness to clip over his shoes if it gets too slippery - to protect all that knee reconstruction work... they would have been a wirey metal thing and maybe on x-ray raised some concerns...hence checking and finding the invoice inside. I am just hoping that they delay is due to heavy Christmas postage. I sent my pack to her by ECI (2-3 days) and that was Friday - nothing yet - that tells me things are taking a bit longer internationally. I have faith!
  6. Its so true! But if I were you I would install one of those timed air freshener thingo's that goes squirt every few minutes - coz those blokey bod's can be mighty stinky!! This might make it more acceptable to the girls.
  7. ahhh... so that is why my friend couldn't get any money out try as she might!!! I get it! (bit slow on the uptake some times!!) I better get myself off to the Currency Exchange and be packing some serious cash then!
  8. I would not class myself as a nerd. I have at least one offspring that is a deadset computer nerd, thankfully he is as passionate about his computer as he is about boxes, rails and powder stashes!! But I have evolved to enjoy the virtual world - ummm don't we all? You are after all reading a forum! it certainly is the way of the future, and people do expect access when they travel nowdays. See an opportunity and carpe diem Domo! There is no better time than TODAY!
  9. My kids were up there every night last January! They were on snow bright and early each morning and didn't come down until close of lifts... Beats the heck out of the night ski-ing we did at Thredbo in August - one run - and talk about sheet ice!!! OUCH!
  10. Great wrap up bellavista - not sure there is anything else the boy will need to know! January will be my hubby and older kids 3rd trip in a year to Niseko - my 2nd, sort of gives you an idea of how much we love the place, huh?
  11. Mantas, Are you kidding? Not only would I not want to damage the equipment I was plugging in or the plugs - but life and limb! I will pack an extra adaptor, and if I see you in January it is yours buddy - you need protecting!!
  12. Awesome plan... If you set it up suitable for gamers, but made sure it was kid friendly I BET you would get a heap of parents sticking thier kids in to play WOW or whatever while they duck over for a quiet drink sans rug rats....location will be everything! (BTW: by kids I don't mean the out of control brroom brrrrooom car playing type of kids needing a babysitter - I meant more like the teens and thier slightly younger sibs.) My 15 yr old took my 8 and 10 yr old and they played happily glued to thier seat for 4.5 hours!!! What about organising to have an ATM inside the Cafe to
  13. LOL!! My eldest took my 2 youngest to That Computer Store in Claremont/Nedlands - similar set up - now all I hear is "Mum, Perleeeeease can we go to TCS, we have 2 and a half hours credit still, perleeeaaasssee".... The whole InterNerd Gaming thing is POP-U-LAR! Might not be a bad lifestyle choice Domo!! Relocate to Japan - still do Web Design and stuff for Aus companies, but also do for j-companies and run an Internet Cafe. I am sure there are plenty of people who would prefer NOT to lug thier own laptops half way around the world if they had a choice...

I, personally, don't think you will have any "it is too western" issues - we had great fun! mmmmm yummm love the pickled sea urchins! You can get an all mountain pass and ride all three resorts crossing at the peak or getting a bus at the base - the local boys will have more info than me. In Apr
  15. Ahhh... I think SJA might have replaced his baby pic with a pic of his car by mistake. The car appears in the forum about most amount of snow on a vehicle.... The baby pic was cuter SirJib!
  16. Soubs, Sorry about your Mum. Regardless of the tormented childhood path somewhere it has gotta hurt seeing your Mum in that state and knowing she is asking things you can not do.
  17. We enjoyed Bali the one time we went (10 years ago) but since then a friend lost his wife (and her sister), the mother of his 2 kids in the first bombing. We feel unwilling to revisit it with that image in our heads, despite thinking the place and people were beautiful. Thursday - you need a Christmas Gift? Give us a bit more info and lets see if we can't come up with the best idea ever....
  18. I have no idea Indo. She used the USA Pre-paid Airmail boxes and repacked it, but I think she said she included the invoice reciept from Amazon...but even so I do not understand why they even opened the box!! Random check maybe? I am hoping that she has not been flagged to be checked every time now. Ticks me off because I am not bringing in sellable quantities - just Christmas gifts for my kids and nieces and nephews that I could not get here. For my kids it was snow stuff - lets face it - Perth doesn't get much snow, and therefore doesn't carry any cool gear (in the way of toys
  19. Old thread http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=18815 - but I think you are onto something with Toyru. In fact I am pretty sure they are opposite the Gondola Chalets - I went in there in April and checked it out, but I am on a tea tray - not sticks...so I didn't take much notice!
  20. Been there, done that - you have my sympathies MJ
  21. Just had a look at it MeJane...looks good, except for EG we ordered some stuff direct from Tactics (the snow and skate board store listed) recently - and although they are shipping direct to us, they could not ship 2 of the items because of thier brand....seems bizarre to me in this day of international cyber-malls!!! But ohhh well! They have a disclaimer that some items may not be able to be sent to some countries - and I am NOT talking about quarentine regs and wood/plant matter - stupid things like they can't send Burton things from the USA to Australia, yet you can buy Burton things
  22. OK..So we have all had postal hiccups, losses, delays or whatever - at least I hope it is not just me!!! I am currently waiting on a few parcels of snow toys and t-shirts that I ordered from Amazon USA in July that were forwarded by a friend in Texas - they have already done a round trip being refused entry due to 'breach of postal codes by attempting to send merchandise disguised as gifts" - and I am HOPING like HECK they get here before Christmas! This time she has wrapped them, mixed up the items and added cards and candy - here's hoping - but they have taken 2 weeks already.... B
  23. Aussie expression for "it is extremely simple to forgive" in the context as used above. Edited to add: Q:Can you light the Barbie, Bro? A:Too easy, mate. TRANSLATION: Q:Can you light the Barbeque my friend? A:Yes It basically means YES, but a resounding YES, as in YES YES of course.
