  1. Wow I never get any lift lines like that, max I ever seem to wait is one min or less, usually no lines. And I go to a lot of the main resorts, that would suck big time to have to wait so long to ride.
  2. Yes you did, and there is maybe another big dump on its way for this friday onwards. Did you enjoy your self here though thats the main thing?
  3. No limit to how fast I can ski, trouble is my skis can't keep up with me, lol! (JOKE) Not sure really never checked my speed, I guess kind of average speed.
  4. Ok I stand to be corrected, well good luck with your hitch-hiking, at least it is a safe country to do it in. Hope you have fun when you come. Never hitch-hiked myself, never appealed to me to do it I guess, though lots of people around the globe do it.
  5. Not being funny but i think you need to give up on the idea of hitch-hiking in Japan, I would be surprised if anyone pick you up. I have never tried of course, but after living here for eight years my observations tell me it will be difficult. Anyone correct me if I am wrong. Your best bet would be train or bus, I guess buses are the cheapest way to get around? Never used them myself, but I know some who do and they say they are cheap enough. There are many ski bus tours especially from Tokyo.
  6. I found a good one in Yamanashi, they sell second hand skis, boots, etc all checked, and cleaned before they sell them. Can send the link later if anyone is out that way and wants to give the shop a look.
  7. Tell you what though, at the bottom of a lot of the resorts where the slopes come down to the base where people can play or just walk about they should have a lot of these signs. I have to say the worst culprits are the boarders coming down the hill flat out right down to the doors of the resort builing. Now I am all for speed and all that, but going flat out right to the very bottom and weaving in and out of people is over the top. Up on the slopes the slow signs suck, they need them on the base and should through them off the resort if they don't follow the signs.

Yeah you should, it's also cheap, parking is free, food is not excellent, but definately better than other resorts ive been too. Good choice of slopes from beginner to expert levels, and if you got kids plenty for them to do too. It's open until sometime in May.
  9. Tubby Beaver, I went by my car, from my second house in Takayama. It takes about 1 hour from Numata. Sorry I have not idea whether or not you can go by bus. Maybe if you ask at a travel agency they can tell you.
  10. It was very busy this weekend in Marunama ski resort, although the lift lines where short, only one or two mins wait, so although lots of people not to bad as far as skiing went. Getting out of the carpark was simple, not traffic when we left, but got stuck in some once along the road a little way.
  11. Ok this weekend I just added another count to my existing times. I went to Marunama ski jo, was really good conditions especially after the large dump Saturday night.

  13. Hehe! Then topping of the weekend by watching WWE live on Monday afternoon!
  14. Well better to get snow daytime then no snow at all! Although yes the ideal situation is a major dump at night ready for a fresh days blasting in the sun.
  15. I will be ripping up the snow Sunday, Although will be around the mountains tomorrow as well messing around in the snow with the family.
  16. Bad luck mate! When I had my foot crushed to bits at work years ago, it took about 8 weeks to heal and a few more months of physio after that. You'll be ok by next season though. Hope you get better soon.
  17. Yes the east side has deffinately been much colder this year. My wife told me this year is like it used to always be when she was at high school, and that's only going back about 16 years ago. So although the usually heavy snow areas haven't got as much as usual the areas that usually don't get much snow have had a lot more. Muikabochi, When I made my predictions last year it was based on what I saw around these parts of the country, so I believe I was spot on. We are expecting snow again this weekend, if we get it, that will be three times in one week, that is a lot for Tokyo, it
  18. Oh great stuff, this backs up what I want to say, I looked at some stuff earlier too. Actually I have contacted a few weeks ago and will be contacting some other climatoligists, etc to discuss my theory, to see if there is any interest. Not sure if I will get any replys but I will try. Then I may talk about it on here, because this is a really interesting topic for me and something that I want to help with. If what I think is right the earth will be getting colder, not warmer and we are nearing the peak for high temps on earth.
  19. LOL, sorry couldn't help myself there. Actually I believe it is to do with the air currents, sucking in less moisture over the Japan sea side and instead sucking more up over the east side from the continent, hence east side is getting a lot more snow than usual. Last autumn I mentioned that this winter would be a cold one and snowy, which it has been, much colder over this side compared to usual and a lot more snowy too. I think in general everywhere has been colder this year, compared to other years, so far. Also as you know we have this so called global warming, which is surel
  20. Woke up this morning and everywhere was all white again. Nice!
  21. LOL, that's an idea, well with more snow on its way Saturday, who knows we might just be able to.
  22. nice pics, I will be giiding the slopes this weekend at last, couldn't go the last 3 weeks had to much on!
  23. If we keep getting this snow here then maybe they should rip down a few of the big ugly sky scrapers and build a mountain instead then we can all go skiing here, lol. Talking of skiing will be up in Gunma all this weekend if all being well, try my new skiis out that I didn't get the chance to try out the other day.
  24. I sometimes wear knee pads, because of past knee injuries, I guess if I fall it kind of feels a little more reasuring but otherwise not sure if it helps or not.
