Yep, Those are the VT guys... No no.. not out of business. The platform they were on in the early 90's died tho. The Amiga from Commodore. But they quickly recovered with a PeeCee equivalent. And now the newest product in that line are the TriCaster, TriCaster Pro, and the best of all is SpeedEdit which is the video editor section of the PeeCee Toaster broken out and doing HD video or really any size you want. It's software only but it screeeeems as an editor. I don't think there's anything else out there that approaches it's speed. Seriously nice software and pretty cheep too!

We spend Y8,000 per person per trip almost exactly. We buss it from Nagoya to wherever in those tour-packs. There's a few advantages to that. No tired drivers, unlimited number of friends can come along without worrying about being cramped or number of cars needed. You don't need to think about tires and/or chains. And you can get drunk without worrying about causing an expressway pile-up. We've gone 12 times this year. Ah, 94... k, thanks for the correction! It's good to know! Anyway the idea there is that it's a kewl enough place to hold the winter Olympics. I learned how to ski in Big Bear Lake, California, where I lived for a few years (not 100 meters from the resort) and there's no way you would want the Olympics held there.

Some classier private onsens serve you beer and sake tub-side (in the onsen!). Cool little munchies too. But those are $$ private $$ too. The proper etiquette for a public onsen is alas, NOT to bring food or drink into the pool area. Tobacco too. But, it's such a minor social rudeness that no one will say anything. Or if they do say something it will be the poker-faced approval blurb. You know - when they tell you it's fine but really mean that it's slightly off. We are talking about onsens and not sento/ofuro right?

I think staying in Tokyo as a base of operations would suck terribly! Unless you love every thing and every place crowded??? I live here full time (for 20 years) and I avoid Tokyo passionately. Stick to the small towns where Japanese people are so friendly! Nagano maybe, Gifu-ken somewhere, That way if you're coming mostly for the snow sports you won't have to travel at all. I found that after living in Japan for the first 2 years or so and changing over to a Japanese diet that deodorant was no longer needed except for very nervous occasions like "The Big Job Interview" or a friend's wedding or something. And when I was in the US, well.. Skunks had nothing on me!

The one this morning? We all felt it here! Every one in the house ran out into the street. Well you would too if you lived in a 80 year old 2 story house. This is in Aichi-Ken Nagoya btw. .
