  1. hot and humid, but I just turned the aircon on, so that should improve things considerably
  2. come on mate - i'm a business major and I understand that the record companies are in business to make money. However, the number of artists that get screwed in that industry is ridiculous becuause of the one sided contracts. Artist are not employees and not paid an hourly wage. They get a cut of what they sell...but how much of a cut? After promotions, travel, recording studio time, etc are all paid for, what is left over is profit. Of that profit, the record companies take 70-80% leaving the artist with net profit of 20%. Sounds like a lot, but it is probably less than 5% of gross
  3. Doesn't Denmark have snow? or just really cold women?
  4. Damn, that is the Michael Jordon of sharks.... Yes, Tiger sharks are a problem in Hawaii - farking scarry and strike without warning...
  5. I'm all for supporting artists, but not supporting record companies. I have gone on this rant before - but here it is again. In the early days of Napster, I used to DL those crappy 128kbps tunes to preview songs and see what I liked. Every weekend, I would then go to the store and buy 3-5 CD's (I have over 1000 CD's to this day). When the record companies went after Napster and shut that down, I vowed to never give them a penny of my money. With digital downloads, Artists should go direct. I'd pay $1 per song if I knew 100% of the proceeds were going to the artist. The reality
  6. CB, I'm right there with you on this one - same deal.
  7. I dont' know why i'm up early...but here I am...
  8. In Jimbocho, the streets are lined with snowboard shops and 'thugged out' staff.
  9. California surfer dude....Whoaaa...
  10. I'm not stealing anything. Someone bought the original and i'm borrowing a copy. No different than if I went to Blockbuster and rented a video - Blockbuster bought it, i'm renting it - blockbuster is making money, the movie studio isn't. But like I said - I wouldn't pay more than $5 for Billy's DVD so no revenue lost. oh, and BTW, I tried the workout today and it kicked my ass. It's too difficult to do in my apt so I won't buy it.
  11. I'd like to get a suit with ripaway velocro so that after the meeting, I can just pull them off and be in shorts and a t-shirt!
  12. Throw the little bugger in a backpak and bring him along on the mountain!

Their territory goes up and out like a cone shape, so if they give chase swim down and away....
  14. Yea, it's a big problem....When I lived in Singapore there were days that turned into night from the smoke coming across from Indonesia...
  15. I rave about it every once and a while. I went there with some local J-friends and had a blast. I think I was the only gaijin on the mountain, perhaps the village. Zero nightlife, but that didn't matter cause we had a group of 8 of us.
  16. I'm an open water certified diver, but i'm not really into it anymore. I have all the snorkeling kit and prefer that...much easier to manage and much less risk. Be careful with the peas, you don't want the fish swiming up your trunks and mistaking something else for peas!
  17. Because if I had to pay for it, I wouldn't buy it - so no revenue lost.... If something is worth the money, i'll pay for it. In fact, if I find my self using this for more than 3 times, i'll probably go out and buy to support the dude's IP, but also to get the 'Billy Bands'...
  18. It's looking like i'll be on Summer vacation thru the end of the year!
  19. We went to the hospital today and the kid is wild! On the ultrasound, he's flippin around, flashing the shaka, and basically having a blast in there. We're still quite a ways away, but getting excited! and i'm glad I'm not carrying - There's no way I could have a kid...i'd miss a season of snowboarding, that's unacceptable!
  20. I don't get the whole carbon trading thing.... So, if I'm a rich country spewing Carbon, I can just buy some credits from say, Iceland - and the environment is not harmed? Crazy... They need to get the indonesians to stop burning down the rainforests, then we'll be golden!

For all the hooplah, i could be a hell of a lot worse. Sure, it may be a small step, and insignificant in itself, but i see the concerts as part of a larger movement to make environm
