  1. GN has hit the nail on the head in that it cant be much better managed anywhere else in the world to start stepping it up at Niseko by going out the gates. The week I had up there changed my riding forever and I had no avie/safety gear at all. Its certainly prep'd me and undoubtably hundreds if not thousands of others for more adventures elsewhere in more difficult terrian fully geared up. If I was to do it again I'd have my beacon etc but only now that I own it all it would be a little silly not to have it on me and the rest of the gear to be in a position to help others. Of course the shovel
  2. Thanks mate, as always appreciate the detailed response. Im hoping my hotel swings down to pick me up at the station
  3. Hey Ippy how big a crowd should I expect Sat morn at 6:31am going Nagano - Myoko? The next train is at 7:46 by looks of it and I imagine that will be busy???
  4. Thanks Ippy. Might try and sneak over there one day this trip, especially mid week. Sounds like the perfect place to go as a group across all levels of experience and still see each other during the day.
  5. I best put this on the To Do list, thanks Ippy. Stoked you scored it! From Nagano its a train, get off at Togari Nozawaw Onsen station?
  6. Hey mate THANKS so much for such a generous offer but think I have it sorted with getting some delievered to me. Appreciate the input too. Sorry for the hijack NECK.
  7. Yeah mate here until next Thursday afternoon. Thanks. Looking at Ascents now. Not too long to pack at 25"?
  8. Thanks Gozaimaas have just used one to ship all my avie gear direct to Japan. Need to find another as it wasnt cheap....Was hoping to direct ship BTW the snow shoes you left in Aus, what were they and do you like them?
  9. Ah well no way to progress this. My intent was to try and give Ippy a heads up of the conditions he was about to find based on info i was getting direct from Nozawa. Gee my bad for trying to help.
  10. And you said it had been raining and the local guys I know there said it was raining and Ippy got that and it was. Maybe at the exact moment you posted it stopped but pretty academic really. Gee arent we all winners in this debate.
  11. Despite the rain which apparently I wasn't suppose to warn you about Ippy sounds like you had fun anyway. Gotta admit that reading you did might change my mind not to ride next time conditions arent ideal. Thanks. and also for extending my music knowledge, although probably not in a good way LOL.
  12. Hey NECK which US vendor do you normally use? Tried Backcountry but they wont send them. Thanks
  13. Thanks Jackson, I was hoping someone with more experience than I would chime in!! Great vid and link with some things to practice. Will alter my post re removing the helmet, appreciate the input.
  14. Siiting in my chair at work tilting it wanting to take some of those lines you can see through the trees. Damn that looks good.
  15. Hi Annika thanks for the update. If you can do head back to Kiroro on a pow day, its a great place as you sussed out. Be there early to beat the day trippers. As a little heads up when you are up the top at Nagamine (?) dont drop off under the rope on skier's right. Couple guys I was with last year did and spent the whole day getting out, wasn't a pleasant experience by all accounts. So glad I passed on that oppurtunity. Stoked for you that you are having a great trip.
  16. 1. "...you could almost touch the chairs..." 2. If the skier / boarder hurts themselves by hitting a lift tower, chair or by falling then the whole lift will need to be closed until the person is 'rescued' Thanks Mike - the shutting of the lift is understandable. Yep under the Monkey it was low, too low.
