yes probably, but how does the 50-hour thing work? does the meter stop counting at close of lift for the day and starts running again when you next go through the gates? If so, you'd lose out if you skied only half a day.

yeah, sounds like Hokkaido is the best bet for Dec. Don't know of any airline that flies directly from London to Sapporo though.

Christmas and New Year is the same period I'm going, only not for 5 weeks. I'm headed for Hokkaido, landing in Sapporo. If you're going to use airmiles for the ticket, you're probably already too late for Sapporo, but check it out in case. From Perth, I'd guess your best bet would be into Tokyo and domestic from there.
