  1. I usually use the 3M pad and then finish up with the brush - the brush is what I use to put the fine structure in. The 3M pad is too coarse to structure with properly.
  2. Good info mate, thanks! I bought a new board in December, so I hot scraped it several times with the base prep stuff just to get plenty of wax into the p-tex. I'll go with the red today then!
  3. Heading out to Hakuba tomorrow and want to wax my board in preparation. I have the Toko wax set, I've always just used the 'all-round' wax, but I'd quite like to give the coloured ones a go to see the difference. I have Yellow, for 0 to -4, and Red, for -4 to -10 degree snow temperatures. Which is likely to be best, do you think?
  4. Its the same line, you just have to get off and wait for another train on the same platform - it doesn't go straight from one to the other.
  5. If you take the keisei line, it turns into the Toei Asakusa line, which turns into the Keikyu line and takes you all the way from Narita to Haneda. It's dirt cheap, if money is a concern.
  6. Quote: You want to start at the tip and slide the file at a 45 degree angle down the edge. You will want to de-tune to just past the widest part of the nose or tail. As you approach the point that you are going to stop de-tuning slowly apply less pressure. And more advice on tuning here: doucarve.com SJA, I don't think there's a lot of hardcore jibbers on this board
  7. Yeah. I find it ridiculous when the cabbie asks me "And which route should I take?". If I bloody knew that, I wouldn't be taking a taxi now, would I? Where's the Knowledge in Tokyo?
  8. Ochanomizu/Jimbocho/Kanda - All the same place. You're actually best off getting off at Awajicho/Ogawamachi station. That gets you right in the thick of it. Just head out onto Yasukuni Dori and look for the huge Victoria Sports sign.
  9. I'm going up to Kagura tomorrow Slow, how's things there?
  10. The RSS feeds don't seem to work with Firefox/Google toolbar, although they do work with IE7.

Can't you do that here? Most cards here are paid off in full each month. If you actually do the above ( as quoted) , then financially you are very stupid! Not really, as doing this allows you to buy things that are more expensive than you could afford to pay for in just one go. Anyway, I didn't ask for judgement on my financial wisdom, I just want to know what a revolving payment option is.
  12. I just got a Japanese credit card, and I seem to have various payment options - 3 month, 5 month, 10 month etc. But there is also a "revolving" option. Can anyone explain what that is? Back home you just buy, and then pay back as much as you can each month, as long as you meet the minimum payment. Can't you do that here?
  13. Dude, why would you go to Nozawa Onsen if you were already in Hakuba? I've never actually stayed over in a resort (always a day-tripper), but I heard that there is actually some nightlife around Naeba (Yuzawa). No idea about Hakuba, although EBC or FT should be able to give you some idea there. Yuzawa has Onsen. Both have plenty of easy slopes. The Hakuba area is bigger though, so if you are novices, you'll find more in the way of resort runs there, so go to Hakuba.
  14. If you only have one child, the population will halve. Whicb is what is projected to happen to Japan's population over the next few generations. To maintain a population, a family should have at least 2 (2.1) children. This guy is just doing his bit to maintain the British population. He's allowed 16 other families to have just 1 child
  15. Well, it's been raining solid in Tokyo pretty much all day. Any of that translate into snow higher up?
  16. It was my first 1st day back too, and I was worried I'd have forgotten everything. But no, by the time I was on my 2nd run I was hitting the jumps again already. Don't worry - it's like learning to ride a bicycle, you don't forget it. Naeba opening up next weekend, *real* snow on the ground, thanks Karuizawa, see you next season
  17. It was actually pretty cold, it was about 6 degrees in the sun when we arrived, but later on it got colder, around 0-ish and snowed a bit too. Definitely wouldn't go there in season though, although you can actually walk there from the shink station, which is a bonus!
  18. I made my first boarding trip of the season today, to Karuizawa. There were only 2 runs open, both very basic green runs, about 900m each. It was nice to refresh the legs' memory before the real season begins, and good to be on snow again, but it would get boring quite quickly if you were a good boarder, or spent any more than 1 day there. Not really a mountain so much as a hill, and the amount of people crammed onto those 2 tiny courses was incredible. 10-15 minutes wait for a lift. However, fun was had, and it was only about 7000 for a return shinkansen and lift pass, so a cheap day out by a
  19. I have size 11 feet, so I could go with either Custom X or Baron ES, but I'd rather go with the Baron ES because the I like the design more! Had a look at the Anthem, seems ok, but yeah, I do believe the hype, and I trust Kuma's opinion too as I know he has ridden a fair few boards.
  20. I had a look at the boards today. The Custom X is nice, but I think the Baron ES looks awesome. What other boards are of a similar type that you would recommend?
