It's on Route 17 between Gala Yuzawa and Ishiuchi Maruyama, about 3km from Yuzawa IC (going north). This photo is taken looking back towards Yuzawa. That's Gala Yuzawa station/gondola station you can see below the blue sign in the distance. Great idea. So, everyone, if you visit the Yuzawa area this season (no, Niigata!) then make sure you get to the Emergency Telephone Box and have your pic taken. I'm sure we'll come up with a magnificent prize for the best.

Hi there Unfortunately according to this page: http://www.jkokusai.co.jp/joetsu/route/bus3.html it looks like there isn't a shuttle bus running on that Tuesday. A taxi to JK from Yuzawa would be expensive - probably somewhere between 3000-4000 yen (really not sure on that), so unfortunately waiting for the train might be the way to go. Hope you enjoy your day.... pray for snow!

Yes as the site gets bigger and busier all the time, I've been brought in to help out. My favorite color is blue (though I do like orange a lot too). I like pizza and katsudon. I'm American. How about you? Let's friends.
