  1. gala yuzawa has cheap spring deals through to may. travel is by shinkansen, but i think you'll be pleasantly surprised how cheap it is. tremendously fast and convenient too. enquire at JTB travel agents.
  2. ive tried it - quite tasty once you get over the filthy odour. but i also love natto
  3. nah me niether. has anyone ever fallen for the old glad wrap (cling film) over the tiolet bowl? it always seems like a classic but im dubious as to it coming off.
  4. I foolishly left the inside pocket of my jacket open at newyear this year in hakuba. During my wallowing in the copiuos powder my cellphone took a dive never to be seen again til spring. yesterday my mate lost his keys in the powder. There must be some interesting shit turn up at the end of spring as all the snow disappears!
  5. if youve got a japanese friend, get them to search for the package deals on the net. no doubt you can find some cheap deals then. or unless ofcourse your japanese is down. however golden week prices will rip your undies pretty seriously. personally we are heading to Okutadami Maruyama - its in niigata prefecture, 3 hours from tokyo maybe. its pretty fun, heaps of snow, but very few facilities. not much accomodation right at the mountain, but if you got a car its sweet.
  6. i once drank a shot of tobasco as a bet (about 2000yen i think it was). wasnt as bad as i thought itd be. but ive never been able to eat tobasco since.
  7. i went to Yuzawa park yesterday. heaps and heaps of snow! unfortunately only the lower lifts were open cause of wind i think. but that was more powder than i boarded in the whole of february!??!
  8. with this snow going on (in niigata) should be nice conditions saturday. hanami is not for another week or so yet here. id say she'll be heaving up there!
  9. hmmm...yep, maybe 15 on a good day. wind is still a bit chillly tho.
  10. gee's Rach, it must be a lot warmer in Kobe. you drive with the windows down here now, your eyeballs would freeze! if i had a car i would love to go for a few drives. ive chosen not to invest in one cause of the expense tho.
  11. thats a great thing about japan - i dont think ive ever seen a rock in the 80 odd times ive boarded here! great for the board, great for the melon
  12. NICOLE: jeans that tight cant be comfortable, can they?
  13. the more people who read it the better a! evil bunch of *#">%&7(*....
  14. my brother got sick of all the junk, so he changed is email address to: enlarged_already@... but he later realised as he was applying for jobs that it wasnt the best address to have
  15. Quote: Sounds like a good day, but 5 hours doesn't sound that long? i got a cheap deal for an afternoon ticket (rtn shink and lift pass from 11:45am - 5500yen!!). So boarded straight for 5 hours. on my own too so no stopping for chats or waiting for others to catch up. my back leg was burning like a fire cracker when i stepped out of my board!
  16. Quote: Hang up the boots??!??!???!??!??!??!??!??!??!?? dont get me wrong, ive still got a few days left in me. However, when i do decide to hang them up ill be satisfied. until yesetrday i hadnt had a good powder day since new year!
  17. i went to yuzawa yesterday. had about a foot of fresh powder. boarded 5 hours straight, got on the shinkansen with a grin on my face the whole way home! i can hang up the boots happy now.
  18. i find my board can get a bit heavy on my knee/ankle, so it provides welcome relief.
  19. yep, nothing more comfortable than a well worn-in pair of quality jeans. recently however, my pants of choice are carhartt models
  20. i found out the other day, in new york they refer to homosexuals as 'punks'.
  21. going home (japan to NZ) i had a whopping 50kg! all my snowboard gear and 2 years worth of shit. JAL were great - put about 35kg in the cargo, then took 2 enormous bags as hand luggage. no charge. coming from NZ to japan last time i was about 12kg over, was gonna cost about 300 NZD, my folks were with me when i checked in. so told him i had no cash, and made a big deal of taking shit out of my suitcase and giving it to my parents. he eventually let me on with about 6 kg over. i think my problem is my suitcase weighs about 7 kg when its empty! its a big hunk of crap. time to upgrade i
  22. my bro said they were real funny. That's the thing with ricky gervais, people either love him, or just dont understand him. personally i think he's a genius. have you listened to the free podcasts on the net? http://www.guardian.co.uk/rickygervais/0,16850,1652674,00.html
  23. i think the fact that the towers were so vital to the economy is why they were taken out. and the third building too that wasnt even hit by a plane!? maybe there was a lot of information and records that was quite convenient if it was destroyed. did some deals with the Bin Ladens?? also, in that video they said something about gold stored under the buildings. Some people made a lot of money from 911.
