  1. The boss of a friend of mine got a letter from the Kandatsu marketing staff about their "truly unique luxury Winter Resort". Ok it is a marketing effort and trying to sell something might involve big words but the following sentence in the letter makes another bold statement. "Pineridge resorts Kandatsu is the only ski resort in the Tokyo area that offers excellent slopes and a world class terrain park." I haven't been there this season but the terrain park I saw last season was good but not world class maybe they made big improvements this season? And aren't there other r
  2. Don't think so, but i had to go back home. So i left before the party began.
  3. Those are downhill skis and between 215 en 225 long and they need the length for some stability at 120kmh.
  4. Haven't been to either so it is fine with me, just hoping for some good snow. It is possible to skin further up or just duck ropes on the way down (if the conditions allow). I understand S_M was looking for a big hike, anyone else?
  5. Guess I like cheating. Vallee blanche in Chamonix is also about 15km but with 3000m vert. Even that is pretty flat most of the time. Only the first 200m are steep, and very much skied out most of the time.
  6. Only if you just want a helidrop experience to the top of a badly groomed slope.
  7. why does it need to be waterproof? Do you want your not yet 1-year old crawling through the snow? I wind proof and waterresistant should be enough I think.
  8. how does it work? 400 people down 1 run in 2 days! or 400 each day! Probably only worth it if you are on the first chopper on saturday morning or if you like skiing moguls the last one on Sunday.
  9. Sunrise, I will drive Saturday early morning to Hakuba, if you are looking for a ride let me know (or anyone else who wants to come along). I'll do my standard 1 day trip so when the lifts close I might have a drink somewhere and then head back to Tokyo.
  10. If it is snowing, Nagano IC might be slower due to the higher altitude. The IC was closed for a tire check (just 1 cm of snow on the road). This took at least 30 minutes.
  11. We had plenty of snow in Austria last weekend. according to the resort there was over 2 meters and some patches were still in great shape, although on the lower/south facing parts it was difficult with lots of slides. My buddy set off a a good slider on the bottom part of a run. He was sucked into it and tumbled about 50 meters down and luckily came out on top of the pile of snow. His skis were somewhere in this snowpile and we probed for 45 minutes to miraculously find them.
  12. don't know, got it from a friend. probably from something like skibuilders.com
  13. If you like wide than this might be the ski for you. It has a is 162 wide in the middle. For comparison a spatula was placed next to it.
  14. If the rate continues to become CBs then after newyears the whole forum will consists of CB-somethings. except CB.
  15. Some resorts have discount coupons published somehwere. That will save you 500-1000 for a day pass. Now the only thing is that you have to find them.
  16. Look go finally a new ski game on a big console after 3DO. Wish I had a PSP
  17. How does this relate to snow, except that it won't be snowing on a blue bird day?
  18. Main thing I remember that is World Championships were cancelled because of lack of snow in the Sierra Nevada some years ago. Andorra should be a good place though.
