  1. I've walked a few times last season, it's about 10 mins to the first lift. Walking home is better - take a small chair up a gentle slope, then head home through the trees and a couple of roads.....FUN Most times take the car to the further mountian though....
  2. I always thought the South Park creators were from Canada. Most Canadians I have met have aknowledged it as such. However, last night 'Bowling for Columbine(???)' was on tv, and in it Michael Moore hangs out with one the South Park guys, who apparently went to school at Columbine High. Can anyone help clear this most unimpotant of matters for me please......
  3. DrMabuse, Quote: Are there girly yakuza? (And do they have perms as well?) Or are they just "the girls of the yakuza dudes"? YES, there are girls in the Yakuza, however, they are fvckin' expensive (and not so good either, I'm told..... ) farquah, listen to Ocean, go to the koban near the video shop
  4. 2pints,mate, a lot of time the labels (electronic) are small, usually only run by djs and friends. Sometimes they don't have the money to buy all the tracks needed for cds. There is a better cash flow with singles. Also, the numbers are just not there - I have recently had a track included on a compilation cd. The label made only 1000 copies. Many times there are only 500 or so copies pressed for single release - this means the small label is going to sell them all. Unfortunately, this also means the artists doesn't get paid very much, the labels don't make very much, and not too many peo
  5. There are few different resident passes I think. I got one last year for the Kagura/Naeba area. It was also valid at all Seibu Resorts in Niigata. I think I paid about Y50,000 if memory serves me correctly. There was also a cheaper one, although it finished (I think) at the end of March. Try the prince hotel (Naeba), they had all the info/forms and stuff last year. Montoya, if you rent an apartment, that will qualify you for a season pass at resident rates.
  6. I buy lots of 12 inch singles, but none of them are 'pop' music, or are they going effect the 12 year old's top 40. I buy lots of dance music (house, trance, ambient, etc). There is a lot of electronic music on vinyl that never makes it to a cd. A lot of it will never even make it to a long play record either. Mind you, I do miss the days of the Kiss 'picture single' and other such nonsense. They used to have some real corkers with all the coloured vinyls.......
  7. sunrise, I don't thnk you would have too much trouble with the 'crowds' in Yuzawa. without having a car, I guess your parents are going to be a little restricted. However, Yuzawa being soooo close to Tokyo, I imagine it would be a short plesant break in the country. the town definitly has a 'country town' feel to it, and as I said, it is only about 1:20 hrs from Tokyo. There are mountians/ski fields all within a short walk of the station. Provided you pick a sunny day, it might be nice to just walk around outside the 'rat-race' for a day. there is also the usual onsen places too.......
  8. Ocean, what's a 'nudie sandal' ? It must be good to compare with the boots......
  9. is this to tidy up before the season starts fattwins ????
  10. didn't the shrine inmNiyajima get partially washed away last week ? I went there a few years ago, and the place is/was very cool indeed It would be a shame if you could visit the shrine area though, but there is plenty of wild deer to get you occupied. Sunrise, I live in the Yuzawa area, and yeah, the trees are starting to turn. I should imagine that there is enough walking/strolling around the area to keep them busy for a day. BTW, Yuzawa is about 1hr 20 min from tokyo stn.
  11. Not going to dignify that one with a response (but I did anyway....... )
  12. there can't be that much left to blow down in some parts........ Looking forward to the news again tonight for the continuing comedy, 'The Lady , The typoon, and The Umbrella'....... . Not to be confussed with "The old Man, The Flood and his bicycle'.......
  13. I'm moving back to Oz soon, and was wondering if anyone here has had dealings or has friends/contacts who work for freight or shipping companies. I want to send my car, jetski and personal belongings all back. I was thinking of getting a 20 foot container and putting it all in there. have any of you sent cars/equipment overseas from Japan ? If so, do you remember which company you used ? I have been through the usual channels and I've got quotes from some companies. the quotes range to about Y600,000, but I know the cost of a container to Australia is only about US$1,400.
  14. I hope the most important number is 2 (more months......) Bush by numbers: Four years of double standards By Graydon Carter / Independent 1 Number of Bush administration public statements on National security issued between 20 January 2001 and 10 September 2001 that mentioned al-Qa'ida. 104 Number of Bush administration public statements on National security and defence in the same period that mentioned Iraq or Saddam Hussein. 101 Number of Bush administration public statements on National security and defence in the same period that mentioned missile defence.
  15. it is part of the "hotelier's act" or something to provide a bible for each room. My folks used to run a motel in Oz, and there was alway some mormons or someone who would come around and check the room and leave a fresh copy if one wasn't already in the room. Who'd steal a copy of the bible from a hotel room - anyone ?????
  16. Quote: Had to pop my skirt Sorry fattwin, I gotta ask, what are doing crossdressing on the river anyhow I think,(others may correct me here), in the ocean, the undertows kind of move out to sea rather then just sucking and churning in the one place. As a surfer, you might get pushed to the bottom and held there for a while by a wave, but the currents will usually just carry you out to sea a bit rather then holding you under. Mind you, I have been held under for about 3 or 4 waves once in not too big conditions. So perhaps it is a lesson - don't fvck with mother nature 'cause she i
  17. Yuki's P, I missed this thread too before, and boy oh boy, is it up my ally Without going too much into it now, but I've finished my work too (ha ha, what work.....) and it is past due for the first big black dube of the day (I do LOVE the first one ). As for 'don't you love the fall', well yeah, but I kinda like early December better when all that sweet outdoor Hokkaido stuff is dry and ready for consumption/ inhalation....... In my opinion though, is rather hard to go past my favourite (and that of many others too), chocolate brown Morocian hash....... Too quot
  18. Quote: For the record 'Phar lap' was for the Australian contingent, very few of them realise that "Australias greatest racehorse" as he was known, was from the other side of the Tasman. Kamo, I thought it was common knowledge that MOST of Australia's great racehorses came from New zealand ........You know the old joke - the horses have seen what you guys do to the sheep.....
  19. db and sunrise, you sound as big a fan of 'little Jonny' as I am......have you seen this site yet ? web page
  20. thanks big will. No luck with that though, I've put it in the 'too hard basket' for now - let me try again later. is it just me, or do other people struggle with the picture/avatar thing at this site (mind you, I do notice lots of other putting up pics, so maybe it is just me...... ). Anyway, I'm outta here and going to watch finding Nemo, again.....
  21. yeah kamo, stick to threads about sheep.......(that's a jib, jibe and a low blow... ) I do love a good pav though. But last night my little (pregnant) wifey made me a chocolate mousse flan, and it was YUMMY !!!! If someone can tell me how to upload a pic, I'll show you all how good it looked.
  22. Don't know if anyone is into these kind of events or not, but I am. After more then 10 yrs experience going to raves/dance parties and outdoor parties all over this green and blue planet, I can honestly say this is one of THE best outdoor parties you will ever go to..... As the flyer says, 'This year's Labyrinth features 45-hours of non-stop music on one stage. The 3-day journey of adult entertainment will travel through all forms of psychedelic electronica: from ambient, dub, and chilled beats to trippy house, driving tech, and progressive/psychedelic trance. The chosen group of
  23. 53% - no oil painting, but, hay, at least I'm honest (almost.....). I think I lost it on the income question (I really should have tried to earn something this year.......... ). But, as they say, personality goes a long way......
  24. blah, blah, blah....... It's always more fun getting a hold of the illegal stuff anyway (so someone once explained to me......... )
