  1. At home I always leave it down. When I go to friends houses that are married sometimes i leave it up to get them in trouble. Good Times. Good Times.
  2. Oh no I am double posting myself. I'm not sure who to believe. The snowboaders or skiers. naturally I would beleive the skiers as they are usually much more hardcore having stuck with it through the bad times. I am so confused. Who to listen to. I do not know.
  3. I leave either on July 26 or August 2. Havn't been told yet. Cheam and Lady are really easy to get to. Logging roads take you right up to alpine. Can get to 2100 metres within 2hours top. No bushwacking involved. I have some pictures of me skiing them at http://bivouac.com/ Just go to Authors and then find Matt Lucas It is a rather reserved site for info on mountains and roads so not very exiting unless you like to look at mountains. Its run by the BCMC so NOT LIKE Danes website at all but a great referance.
  4. Hey there Danes If you want to do some summer skiing I always try and hit up Cheam and Lady Peaks. There the two big mountains above Chilliwack and the highway. You may have seen them on your way through town. Probably ski them in late June. Snow is melting fast up there. I skied them last year though in July linking up 5 or 6 snow patches. Thanks for all the info Fattwins. Keep it coming. I am really trying to decide what to bring. I am thinking one pair of clothes and then all my outdoor gear. As for the backcountry stuff. I own skis and skins but that is all. I am with S
  5. No I'm from the great smelling town of Chilliwack. So the trip is anywhere from 2 1/5 - 3 hours from here. The possibility of rain is to much for spending 6 hours in my car. I've had to many excellent days up there to spend another day in the rain. Your from Van I guess. Why were you in Japan?
  6. I was planning on it but weather looks sketchy. Not worth the 3 hour drive for chances of rain. I know it is skiing but costs start to add up when you go it rains and you only ski for an hour or two. I want pure sun. I am thinking of going on Tuesday though and then for sure June 8th the last day of season. Hopefully the weather is good for you though. I bet it will be because I am not going.
  7. for that much I hope the Ladies cutting give you a little extra.
  8. K2 has a new ski coming out as well which I think is even fatter than the Seth Pistols. Its called the Maiden with graphics after you guessed it Iron Maiden. There was also the Jerry Launcher a few years back with unique graphics as well. Only ever seen one pair though. While I'm talking about graphics has anybody seen Volkl Explosive. Kool Magician graphics and supposed to be fairly stiff for a fat ski.
  9. 7 ski areas all around one town. That sounds like some sort of dream place. I hope I get to live there. The size you say as well is enough to keep most happy for a good time.
  10. Some of the kids at Whistler go freakin huge. They are so smooth to. I don't remember being that good when I was 10. Good all mountain skiers as well not just park rats. Mika is right though. Fear is a learned thing and very difficult to forget. Dam those kids. Dam them all.
  11. If its a cliff I usually stand up on top of it for as long as possible. Hopefully the in run is really steep and by now I am unable to hike easily out. Still standing on top for a bit longer deciding if i can ski out after landing or just hip check it. Finally after what seems like hours I jump off and at the bottom look up at what i just jumped telling myself that was stupid as it always looks way smaller from below. And then watch as little kids jump off it with no problem.
  12. That sounds good. i was worried about where I would be in Gifu as an earlier post said it would take 4 hours to get to good hills. I guess Takesu is a town near a bunch of ski hills. Is taking public tansportation not recomended or do most people just own cars. Thanks
  13. Sounds like Gifu is a good place to be. I hope I end up in the north part though but if not, it does not matter. Just longer comutes to the hills. I'm used to that anyways. As for the small hills with big jumps that is cool as well. I could really use the practice as I have neglected that part of skiing the last couple of seasons. Thanks for all the info. What is this thing?
  14. Red Bull and Vodka is my favorite mix
  15. If I have to go around to different schools do I get a car. That would be really cool. So many questions. Why is the JET program so secret. What are they hiding from us new JETs. Is this an international plot for fresh meat in some prostitution and or drug and crime ring
  16. Is Red Bull legal in Japan. I love tht drink but can't get it here in Canada. Have to smuggle it across the border. Cost like $2-3 a can as well
  17. I got my location finally. All they told me is Gifu-Ken. I am assuming that is just the prefecture and not the city. If this is the case then I am going to be employed by a Board of Education or something in that nature with the definitive location coming soon. Any JETs out there that have any idea what this job entails. They will not tell me at this moment.
  18. I can hear you playing the violin for me all the way across the ocean
  19. I hurried out to the mail box today hoping to get my location from JET however when they say Late May they must mean Last Day. Maybe tomorrow
  20. I like the snowmobile parts although I want to get a snowmobile someday though so that may be why. SM3 was not nearly as good as the first two. Not sure why. I did however dislike Brad Homlmes section in Ski MOvie. He is not a good rapper. Actually it is very embarrasing watching that part and if I am watching with friends who not ski I always fast forward through that part. Shane McKonkey does a good spoof of Brad Holmes's rap in his own movie which is also pretty good and comical
  21. I went yesturday at Whistler. It was no good however. I only did 3 runs. The first two were all right with only a few sprinkles however on the third it was an outright downpoor. I was soaked. Also the Peak and Harmony were closed because of Avy risk so that left on the Red and Emerald. I keep getting these crappy spring days where it rains. I wish I had the flexibility to go when the weather is good however I can only go weekends and so far the weather has not been cooperating. Hopefully the next two weekends are good as they will be my last.
  22. The Freeride was developed for just that purpose. The bindings can be adjusted very easily with a screw driver to different height levels to acomadate downhill and backcountry boots. You are correct though in that they would probably not hold up in the park very long but I would never slide rails with my good skis anyways. I have seen to many people rip edges out. As for MEC everything is on the website and shipping within Canada is very cheap if not free insome cases. Look on the Gearswap page every so often for good deals. I picked up my touring bindings for $40
  23. They are supposed to be great for short little jaunts off the ski hill but compared to real touring bindings it is a lot of extra weight. Also being up so high is not always an advantage. Look on the MEC website gearswap and you may be able to pick up a pair for less than $150 Can. If you want a touring binding with DIN go for the Fritchi Freeride. It goes up to 12. A lot more pricy but easier on the body. Although having the trekker allows you to have only one set of skis.
  24. Russia Finland Norway Sweden England Mexico Canada US Not as many as most people but places nobody would ever get and want to see Add in another question. How far north/South have people been? 70 degrees North latitude in Norway
  25. Who was from Manning. I may know them. My family has lived in East Gate for 20 years and been skiing there since the 60's. The backcountry is amazing up high and off the chairs. The other is difficult as the lower forests are very thick. I have been turned around frustrated many times
