@ gollum echineko, avatar definition: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=avatar in the context of this forum, its this: 1. An image representing a user in a multi-user virtual reality (or VR-like, in the case of Palace) space. So an avatar is literally your virtual self - a representation of you. how you want others to see you in the virtual world. it could be a simple image (like on this forum) or a virtual 3D character in some cyberspace of the future... (its a popular term in cyperpunk literature). -

ray, in hakkouda, if u want to do the steep sections, make sure you hook up with someone who knows the hill. & have a read of the articles here as well. enjoy! -
you think so rach? it was a bit of a joke really - & as someone said, its sounds like a porno! I like "Wham Bam Snow Japan" best so far. I'd love to see some more ideas though... then we could vote on it perhaps? So while you are all off riding wicked pow all weekend, have little brainstorm sessions while you are on the lifts. Its a bit hard for me to think snow, when its sunny, 30+ & I'm snorkeling at Coogee beach...

The flat run-out at Hakkouda can be hell for a boarder... its the price you pay for that nice steep bit at the top (which isnt that steep, but is still very nice when you can see....which isnt often!) -

have a look at goski for some amusing reviews of Chacaltaya http://www.goski.com/bolivia.htm i love this bit > We had two full days of non stop skiing with the aid of sucking on coca leaves. Well worth picking some up from the Paz before you go up. -
Your best trick
alferg replied to Octavio Estrada's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
its been done elsewhere on lots of sites. heres one http://boardtheworld.com/magazine/air101.php i'm no expert, but i can stomp my 360s most of the time, natural & f/s switch, i've done a switch f/s 540 twice, i can do big tweaked-out grabs off a spine, & hope to combine grabs & spins this (aussie)season... there was no terrian park in niseko in early january, so i didnt get to practice my tricks much in japan this season - but i'd rather ride powder anyway -

yeah, i mean the font on the logo box above "SJ Forums online community" SJ, whats the font called? & can you email me the logo too please - a hi-res one would be good (ie 800 pixels wide or bigger) or an eps file if you have one. -

hey plucky, love the slow-mo on your edit! makes it look like a pro movie (except for my very amateur riding!) geez it'd be great if those little digi-cams could shoot high frame-rates - like 100 fps or so, then you could get that lovely smooth slo-mo they get when they shoot snowboard/ski films on 16mm...that kind of thing cant be too far in the future...ah the wonders of the digital age the supers are working well. a suggestion - how about the same font that SJ use? (not sure what its called) that'd be good from a style consistency point of view. SJ would probably love an SJ " -

hmm, i have no idea whats going on with those clips. they were different cameras in each place, but i thought the fram rates were the same. do you have quicktime pro? try resaving them from there. or reformat them with media cleaner or after effects. -

Skiiers, Boarders & surfers??
alferg replied to indosnm's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
well thats true, crazyski - i guess i was thinking more in terms of 20 people finding out about a whole mountain wouldnt make a lot of difference - certainly its another story if those 20 people all learn about your secret line! I especially get annoyed when 20 people find your tracks & mash up your powder while you were catching a lift - its such a drag to have to scoot off to your other secret spots...
