  1. Bobby - the wheel adjusts forward lean. In theory, it should be adjusted to match the forward lean of the boots you're wearing - no more, no less. The manual that comes with it says not to adjust them too tight cause it will stretch the cable. I have mine a little more than matching the boots though cause I like the feeling of the hiback tight against my calves...
  2. p.s. I have my forward lean set fairly tight against my calves...about 1/3 the way in from completely "loose"...
  3. Definitely wierd SBF - when you think about it, the design of the hi-back puts pressure on the locking mechanism so it can't open, so how it ends up opening is mysterious. I know that when I come off the lift, if the locking mechanism is just resting up against the hi-back, but not engaged, it won't let me open the hi-back to put my foot in it until I open the locking mech alot. I also have the the Pro Cs, so it seems mine might be prone to the problem you describe. I hope it doesn't happen to me cause I love them, especially in deep powder...
  4. If you have a choice - go on a week day, and start out on the back side runs.... Seems most people go down the front side leaving the back side uncrowded...
  5. Heard DB comment on his backs opening up too but mine never have. How tight do you have the forward lean set too? How long have you used the binding? Or maybe I should ask how many times? Momo has used hers around 30 times, mine about 35 so far. Have you talked with anyone at Flow about that happening? I'm not worried (yet) about mine, but I am curious about how/why it is happening... Ray
  6. Jared, Will you be boarding on Monday? Thinking about a slight change in plans where we stay home saturday cause we have a going away party to attend friday night, then go to the forrest on Sunday, spend the night in Morioka, then go to Geto on Monday. Turns out we don't have to work on Monday after all... Still deciding though...
  7. Cool! Thanks Jared. I'm thinking that maybe we'll come to Geto on Saturday, then spend the night in Morioka and go to the forrest on Sunday since you and Plucky will be there. That way Momo can come too and go to Juscos in Morioka while we're snowboarding on Sunday...I'll shoot you a PM on Friday after I finalize our plans...so, I should rent snowshoes for the trip to geto? Thanks again Jared, Ray
  8. LPL - no, it was a ramp built in the street for the letterman show, not a half pipe
  9. I was six months old, and my grandfather took me swimming in the hotel swimming pool...my memory is of his big (he was akebono big) hairy stomach and the surface of the water from underneath. I told my mom about that about 10 years ago (I'm 43 now), and she freaked out cause she said my grandpa came to visit me when I was six months old and stayed in the Holiday Inn and took me swimming in the pool. Of course I didn't know the memory was from 6 months old until she told me, but I can still "see" it clearly...though for the life of me, I can't remember what I ate for dinner two weeks ago...
  10. I had a home burn down once when I was 18...lost everything...that really sucked. The only good thing was no one got hurt, and the dog got out ok too...
  11. Hi Jared, Thanks for the help. I don't have snow shoes yet, but I can rent some. I planned on doing that anyway before forking out 36,000 yen to get some. I know plucky will be at Hachimantai on Sat/Sun too - maybe we can come to Geto on Sat, stay in Morioka on Sat night, and then go to Hachimantai on Sunday. FYI - If we do make it to HF on Sunday - I have this cool discount thing that lets me and 4 friends buy our lift tickets for only 2750 yen. We can chat more before the weekend - if for some reason I can't make it to the forrest on Sunday, but we meet up on Saturday - I'll let you us
  12. Shimba, Jared, and anyone else near Geto: Are there any good places to stay near Geto besides Semi Onsen? I know Semi is good, especially the rotenburo, but they are usually full. We're planning on going down there this coming Saturday or Sunday and spending the night. Also - have you been to Junes yet? It looks like it could be a lot of fun...thinking of going there the first day, then going to Geto the second day so the drive home isn't so bad...boarding at Geto for two days might be fun too though... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ray
  13. By the way - they are probably good for the park/pipe - I use mine for jumps but then again, I don't get big air/do a lot of tricks etc. I only mentioned that cause I've heard some people like to adjust their laces loose on the bottom/tight on top etc, which is something you can't do with Boa laces - it all tightens equally...
  14. My wife has Vans with the Boa laces, and mine are K2 with Boa laces...I would definitely recommend them if you are not into the park/pipe scene. They are much much quicker to get into/out of. The only drawback is you have to reach down and tighten them up every hour or so - they don't loosen much - only a few clicks, but they do loosen up by themselves...Momo usually loosens her's up on gondola rides and then retightens them up at the top - only takes a few seconds. Another friend loosens his on the lifts but I usually just leave mine alone until lunch breaks etc...
  15. LPL - I reread my post - meant to say I haven't been up there this year yet - kinda reads like I've never been up there...anyway - some of my japanese friends go up there alot too - they usually get a guide, and the owner of Aqua Romance in Hachinohe goes BC a lot too...trying to get my beginner friend to go up there tomorrow but he doesn't like deep powder so I'll have to see...cheers, Ray
  16. Lucky you ripper! I was on telephone standby cause of this damn team visit or I would have went with you guys...talked to Plucky last night about it but no could do...I'm still pissed I had to work yesterday and stick around today...I think I'm gonna take leave tuesday to make up for it, then go down south to geto for the weekend...we'll have to hook up the weekend after next... ray
  17. Just spent the last 2 hours downloading/watching the videos...very cool...definetly creates more of an itch to get out there... Shimba & Jared - Its been a year now since we last went to Geto - are you going this coming weekend? I'm thinking of coming down there either Saturday and Sunday, or Sunday and Monday...would love to hook up with you and have some fun... Low Pressure Lover - the Hakkoda videos are awesome. I haven't been there yet cause I've been going where a beginner friend of mine wanted to go but after this coming weekend, I'm gonna start going back to Hakkoda. Al
  18. All of the videos look great - I like the helium music too...Jared - funny you use the Offspring - I have a video tape of them doing extreme sports...
  19. Funny how things work out - just found out I'll be going to a denwa conference in Alaska the 3rd week in April. I've never been there, never even flown over it - can't wait...now I gotta find out if they snowboard up there... Ask and ye shall receive...
  20. I would love to try New Zealand, or Australia...had plenty of chances to live in Europe by I'm a Pacific Rim kinda guy...so I guess even Alaska wouldn't be a bad deal if it was temporary...
  21. Getting older sucks? Getting close to 30? Give me a break my child. Try being a 43 year old snow boarder! I get a lot of strange looks, and the Japanese folks I work with say I should be skiing - that snowboarding is for young children. I love proving them all wrong...though I admit I don't recover no where near as fast as when I was 20 years younger...I went yesterday, and planned to skip the superbowl today to take advantage of the uncrowded slopes but decided to stay home and watch the game instead...barely have the energy to remote start the van to go to MacDonalds after this...
  22. Nate - call me 226-7878...might be able to get some professional editing done for free on this... Ray
  23. Thanks again everyone...this baby is definetly interesting...kicks like hell until I put my hand on Momos belly - then she "relaxes" and stops kicking. Happens like that all the time. If Momo puts her hand on her belly, the baby just keeps kicking. When I came home from work today, "Jenny" started kicking a lot until I rubbed Momo's tummy and said hello and then she stopped kicking and went back to sleep. Almost as if she heard the sound of my voice... The only bummer part of this whole process is that Momo can't go snow boarding this year. That kinda put a damper on the season cause
  24. I just caught the highlights on ESPN - the kid that won ski super pipe impressed the hell out of me, which is damn good considering I'm a boarder. I've been trying to watch it when I can, saw Shaun White got injured practicing for snowboard super pipe finals after he led the prelims... All in all, I love watching Winter X much better than watching other winter sports. Except for womens ice skating that is...I can watch Michelle Kwan all day long...
  25. Thanks everyone. Hmmm "Moray", which if I changed that to Puhi which is hawaiian for Moray eels is interesting...but then again some folks might mistake "Puhi" for the japanese version... Momo likes the name Jenny so far but she's open to change...
