i too can happily report a couple of lung fulls of snow. laid first to about fifth lines on every slope as they opened, in knee to waist deep fluff. also saw a kamoshika up to its neck in snow....it looked like a teddy bear jumping through the snow.

do u mean half way down the pipe after picking up speed, or the middle at the top?...they fenced off the middle (?to disuade beginners from using it?), although it wouldn't stop u riding round the fence

the pipe was open last weekend... hit it a couple of times when it first opened, but within 30 minutes, the cues were up to 15 people per side. one would hope it thins out later in the day, but i can't confirm. on weekdays it wil be great.

just a note on the management issue: the minshuku i stayed at over new years began serving breakfast at 8am, and being a 10 minute walk form the gondola, made it almost impossible to catch first lifts. this never turned out to be a major issue as it didnt snow. but had the gods come thru, i wouldve been cursing at the timetable restraints. i think expecting an early morning feed in a ski resort town is not too much to ask.
