  1. u might also try avast the pick of the users on cnet.com the download section. how often are viruses caught by your antivirus programs? once a week? once a month? just wondering about the frequency on other people's machines.
  2. i assume u have a lithium battery, so try reading this http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm if u go back to the contents pages, u will find all sorts of extra info on batteries u never wanted to know
  3. i know of an aquaintance with HIV. my last job in oz was working in the immunology department. it is true what mogski says... good patients who stick with the program are not dying. the staff on the ward told stories of the late 80s and early 90s when it was full of patients with AIDS, now the only ones dying are those that aren't especially compliant. i rarely saw an AIDS patient on the ward.
  4. undecided, depends on the weather and my ability to add enthusiasm to the task. had a heavy week, migration visa application, stolen bike (i loved my bike), complete OS reinstall...may need a rest. but may still be able to get the arse into gear...
  5. late one night i found a wobbygong (i guess about 2' long - maybe a bit more ) in the shallows near a place called Green in WA. i called my mate over and he grabbed it by the tail to fling it onto the beach. the shark then bit him but he still managed to get it to the shore. he then told me to stop it getting back in the water as he ran to the car, blood streaming out his arm, to get his gerber knife. later we stopped the bleeding, cleaned up the wound which was kinda deep but only about 8cm long, and applied some steri strips. the guy at the petrol station (who i guess was the clo
  6. the pages refresh once someone else posts in a thread...so wait for someone to post after u have made the change, then check
  7. dude, would love to, but my villainous arch nemesis has me working tomorrow (that is the boss not the gf)
  8. on the lookout to help... http://www.rooknet.com/beatpage/
  9. and on the red light issue. i believe local road rules state that during the first 2 seconds and last 1 second of a red light, it is still permissable to cross an intersection. u should also be aware of the nagoya creep. a special technique where u begin to drive across the pedestrian crossing when the lights for the drivers in the other direction turn amber.
  10. Quote: Originally posted by miteyak: Umm, mind if I jump in with another road rage issue... on this issue i am actually quite relaxed now. if a car is overtaking even slowly i will wait my turn, but as the left lane opens up, i must make my presence known. each car gets a flash of lights on high beam after 5 secs, then another 3 secs to take action then another flash. i then kindly offer 10 secs for action to show my temperate nature, before using the horn, another 3 secs and a second toot. can't give further courses of action cos never needed them. always get me a clear road aft
  11. i too can happily report a couple of lung fulls of snow. laid first to about fifth lines on every slope as they opened, in knee to waist deep fluff. also saw a kamoshika up to its neck in snow....it looked like a teddy bear jumping through the snow.
  12. the truth to the incident? http://www.campchaos.com/othershows/jaydonaldson/britney.swf
  13. do u mean half way down the pipe after picking up speed, or the middle at the top?...they fenced off the middle (?to disuade beginners from using it?), although it wouldn't stop u riding round the fence
  14. the pipe was open last weekend... hit it a couple of times when it first opened, but within 30 minutes, the cues were up to 15 people per side. one would hope it thins out later in the day, but i can't confirm. on weekdays it wil be great.
  15. sorry guys, just a gut reaction. the question just seemed a little redundant. type the topic title into google and u will find the answer in less time than it takes to write the question. by posting something like that, it just seems like u want someone else to do the work for u.
  16. ever heard of a search engine? http://www.hemispheresmagazine.com/15facts/1999/ski_lifts.htm
  17. just a note on the management issue: the minshuku i stayed at over new years began serving breakfast at 8am, and being a 10 minute walk form the gondola, made it almost impossible to catch first lifts. this never turned out to be a major issue as it didnt snow. but had the gods come thru, i wouldve been cursing at the timetable restraints. i think expecting an early morning feed in a ski resort town is not too much to ask.
  18. very good, i now see the target demographics for household water conservation campaigns
  19. i've been advised that (if u ever find the urge irresistable) the safest place to jump off a lift (for other riders on the lift)is when the cable is running under the roller guides, this will stop the spring from releasing your weight. this is not meant to encourage anyone to do so.
  20. yeah go on guys, talk up gifu... i got to see tracks all over hirafu. so if i ever go back, i'll know all the places to hit!
