I've never seen one, but it sounds safer than them being completely free to get out of control.

What do you think? I went on a 'trip' (don't ask) last week with a group to a crappy resorts with 2 lifts - each one must have been no more than 2-300 meters long. But they still charged the same price for a one-day lift ticket.

I went to Zao for the first time this week and it was AWESOME. I can see what some people say about the flatter bits and getting around, but I loved it. The snow was just the best, hardly anyone there, the people friendly, the views magnificent, the onsen good. Highly recommended.
