  1. Yeah, one of my favorite meals in London recently was at a Lebanese restaurant called Fairuz . Also had some gourmet bangers-and-mash at a place called the S & M Cafe .
  2. I'm sorry, but I don't know what the point was. I'm just talking about food. I can't speak for 34 Guests, but I've only had home-made English food a few times. It was good.
  3. They also do organic/free range meat, fish, etc. We tend to only use them for fruits, vegetables and eggs though; I prefer to see my meat before I buy it. Having said that, we have ordered meat from them before and it's always been fine/delicious. You can choose the amounts/frequency you want delivered, but there is usually a minimum size (ie a bunch of bananas); I'm not sure how well that would work out for a singleton. We usually end up forcing ourselves to finish a head of cabbage before it goes bad. We've never used Radish Boya; we used this one mainly because some friends had r
  4. sunrise: No, we're using Daichi , not Radish Boya .
  5. Quote: I think one of the most important aspect regarding food in any country is the access to a large variety of fresh ingredents at a reasonable price. This I found lacking during my time in Japan. I don't know about "reasonable price" for anything in Japan (or London for that matter), but there are several organic food delivery services which operate in the greater Tokyo area. We use one to get plenty of fresh, healthy ingredients. Coupled with our internet access and sharp knives, we eat quite well at home. And the best part about eating at home is we don't have to listening to any s

  7. Miteyak: I agree wholeheartedly that the more progressive a company is, the more likely it is to succeed. A company that's not willing to listen to all points of views and consider all people for management positions, is inarguably limiting their potential. That's easily backed up by just plain and simple math. I'm lucky to be in a company that actively strives to be progressive in gender issues, racial issues, etc.
  8. Ocean: I checked what was available on the website, but could not find the categories which they used to compare companies (from the abstract): Quote: Company performance was graded into five ranks and compared with competitors using a "comprehensive management evaluation index." Judging by the sheer number of companies they used, it seems they must have crossed many (if not all) industries (also from the abstract): Quote: The survey targeted 3,347 companies in Japan, including major companies listed on the top and second tiers of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, over-the-counter s
  9. I'm not questioning the premise of the study; I'm just wondering how they correlated it statistically. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
  10. Thanks for the links; I am not intending on doing anything subversive (yet). I was more interested in seeing how they could directly correlate women's presence/involvement/etc. to a corporation's success. It seems like it would be difficult to empirically prove something like that.
  11. Ocean: Do you have a direct link to the survey itself? I could not locate it on the Japan for Sustainability site.
  12. Quote: We are always trying to work to get the message out about our site

  14. I voted for echitoque: What a waste of my vote!
  15. klubhead: I'm in the 'yo; pass me the deets...
  16. Good luck! Make sure to wear your kneepads.
  17. Quote: For those who've got the new Beck. Is it a return to form after the last one which I thought was pretty poor? Gelatinous Midsection: The new one is produced by the Dust Brothers (same duo that did "Odelay"). If you liked "Odelay", you should like this one.
  18. Dims: Slightly off topic, but I was wondering if you were anywhere near that Thai restaurant that blew up in Perth .
  19. That seems similar to this WinAmp application or Toaster plug-in (for those of us not on Mac OS).
  20. sankyuberrimuch. Don't worry, I learned my lesson well. From now on it's shochu in the glove compartment for me! I didn't pepper my ride with any "yoshu", but I did offer a degrading, "tomatte'imasu" announcement at the flashing red light so he would know we were stopped. I should have pinched my nose so as to mimic the typical train announcer's voice... This instructor was quite nice and seemed to genuinely want people to succeed. He even made a joke or two during his opening explanatory remarks.
  21. Update: I got my license. Yamakashi has got a beatdown coming to him...
  22. Did you see Ann Coulter on the cover of Time?
