  1. Yes, all that high tech jargon... Tethering is what you're doing - your phone connection to provide your computer (or iPad) with an internet connection. Jailbreaking - google 'jailbreaking iphone' and you'll get the idea. That's good that you're unlocked in HK and tethering is officially supported. That's how it should be everywhere.
  2. Thursday, they allow iPhone tethering in HK or are you jailbroken?
  3. Thanks, that's good info, GG. So basically you need to have a data plan, not just mopera connection. Just taking a look up on the website their pay-as-you-go pake-hodai simple plan might be workable for me. I wouldn't use a flat rate plan as I just don't need to connect away from my computer that much. Tethering is definitely the go if it's doable and not too costly to what you're already using.
  4. Hey Grungy, how does Mopera work with the iPad? Could you also use it with an iPod Touch? (which also accesses wireless like the iPad).
  5. Kampo has had studies done and is accepted by the Japanese medical profession, Japanese hospitals give it to people recovering from cancer treatments. Just a random google on kampo and scientific studies... much more out there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kampo
  6. MB I would see if there is a good TCM (chinese medicine) practitioner in your area, or even aryuveda. You will be able to do a lot for your liver health with help from these, your detox may be a little too extreme, it might be better for you to go a little more slowly, so that you can still detox but have less extreme symptoms. Jynxx I think you also need to take into account the liver condition alongside the 5 elements theory. If there is a lot of heat in the liver vs depletion (in TCM terms, not western terms) different advice might be better, also depending on whatever the balance of
  7. Very sorry to hear that, but at least you got to talk to him before he went.
  8. I spoke with someone at JMB today and they said there was an official announcement 2 days ago that the restructuring won't affect miles, they'll remain the same. Assuming the airline keeps flying after bankruptcy of course!

It's very tragic and I make sure I always have a smile on for him. I just don't want to let my guard down is all. There's always room for hope though, and I have lots of it. Good for you! And good your friend is in good hands. I hope he does get in touch with som
  10. Hope you're right, cos I just read another story about possible bankruptcy to take place. I've also since heard from someone who still has miles leftover from Delta/NW takeover (or whoever those relevant airlines were), so I feel a little more optimistic from his and your news...
  11. Sorry to hear that Jynxx. Great to hear about your brother Snowhuntress, I know other people who have come back from death sentences too, and thanks guys for the well wishes re my sister. Mitch - it's true that your friend might well die, but then again, the docs are only going on statistics and people don't always fit the bill. I can't say what will happen to your friend especially if things don't look good, but that being said I just don't believe in automatically believing someone has to die just cos the docs believe it so. People are more than statistics. If your friend is
  12. I've been watching the JAL situation very closely. What would you do if you had JAL miles and had planned on using them later on in the year? I'm thinking I should book the flight ASAP - I'll have enough miles for my summer UK flight on the 10th, and using miles allows for date changes if I need them. The JAL decision will be made mid-month, and there's a possibility of bankruptcy proceedings, - in which case I will assume that any flights people have paid for will be covered by insurance, but what about if they were paid for in miles? Maybe I'm better off using the miles for m
  13. One thing - just because the docs say someone will die it doesn't necessarily mean that will happen. Be careful of believing a death sentence if it comes from someone outside of yourself as anything is possible. My sister is living proof of that. I don't know your friend's illness but my sister was supposed to die twice from brain cancer, docs had no hope for her and a year later she has no detectable cancer in her at all, and the docs are amazed. She still has a long road to recovery but it never occurred to her that she would die from it, she had the belief and will to get thru it.
  14. yup, cant' live without them. I have an older pair of Sonys.
  15. I have a JAL credit card, have enough for my next Europe trip, if JAL is still alive by next year when I want to go.... I'll have to check out AEON, etc.... don't even know what they are, just know the name!
  16. Okay we seemed to sort that last bit out. Krusty - thanks again - it took awhile to find someone I knew fluent enough to phone that number. Unfortunately the woman who answered didn't seem to even know what a Prius was. They didn't recommend anyone else. I asked my friend to phone again if it wasn't taihen to see if they could recommend someone, but for now it seems like a deadend. I also asked him to phone the Toyota dealer. Midnightcharger, thanks again also - my friend's also going to follow up asking some car dealers on yahoo. Computer Battery in the States is $134!!!!! B
  17. My friend who will call them is wondering what the correct nihongo for 'reconditioned' would be - as in 'reconditioned battery' or reconditioned parts? Anyone know? Thanks! I think the computer if used would probably be okay, assuming it's working. But I think if I get a battery that's not new I'd want it to be reconditioned, (unless they're charging next to nothing so it's worth the risk.)
  18. Thanks a million Krusty! I'll get someone to call them and let you know what happens.
  19. Actually, thinking about it, I think the computer is already damaged so I doubt the NZ folk would/could fix it.
  20. Thanks MC, for all the very helpful research and advice. I wonder if those NZ folk can recondition a Japanese language computer? Definitely worth looking into depending on what I can or can't find here. Assuming reliable reconditioned batteries aren't to be found here, currently I'm leaning toward getting a new battery and trying to get a used battery computer. Just to let you know - I got a new 12v battery not long before the main one died, and I'm sure the dealer is correct with the diagnosis on the issue, they took about a week to check it all thoroughly, and he sent a cou
  21. Thanks midnight and krusty. Midnight - Thanks. In the States you can get reconditioned (not simply 'used') batteries. I was hoping that they could be found here too. I'm a bit iffy on a used battery without being reconditioned, however a battery computer from a wreck might be worth the risk. If anyone could locate a nihongo Prius forum for me that's a great place to ask. I assume some exist, well there are certainly English ones and there has to be lots of prius otaku here. The quoted price for the parts are 135,000 each - ie battery 135,000 and battery computer 135,000. Even i
  22. Ger, many people play a musical instrument and sing at the same time, hell, I do that for a living! I do get your point though - of course some things become too complex to play (or sing) if doing both at the same time. But trying to sing well while you're out of breath from dancing is another story! Britney and Madonna are all about visual entertainment for whoever might want to see them. They're not about highly skilled musical art.
  23. It must be hard to sing well while doing a full-on dance act. That being said, I'm not sure Britney can sing well regardless, (and I'm not about to start listening to her to try and find out either). however Madonna can at least sing in tune, so if she's lip syncing some of her show I would say it would be more to do with it being too hard to dance/sing at the same time. I think I remember seeing that vid of britney posted on an audio forum; in light of the lip synching stuff, I'm surmising she's not trying to sound good there, just stay in sync with the song.
