What's doin down on the Jp Forum?
SnowJapan#Andrew replied to enderzero's topic in General off-topic discussions
That's right. We're actually very happy with the usage numbers for the new Japanese site as a whole, but it is taking much more time to get the people viewing to 'interact' and use the fun interactive parts like people do on this here English site. Having said that, it has to start somewhere (in this case, from scratch...!) and there is a pattern of regular Forum users building as the site grows. The J site is new this year and this first season was always going to be one of establishing the new site and doing what we can to spread the word about it. So we're hoping that given time and -

Snow Depth Measurements

Fattwins The info that we do have is presented on each resort data page that the data exists for. As always, if you have a direct question for us, then please email it to us at editor@snowjapan.com. That way it will be seen to as quickly as possible. Thanks -
We are hoping that people write reviews because they want to contribute to the site in a positive way - sharing experiences, sharing info, improving the site for everyone..... not just because they want to win a ticket and certainly not make reviews for places that they have never been to. We would be extremely disappointed if that were the case. Having a special giveaway for the 4 week period is a way to encourage people to do just that. We understand your point about your previous reviews not being valid for this particular giveaway, but please understand that we do not do this al

Yes, Plucky - we know that you are not blaming SnowJapan, and we also know that a resorts data may only get updated once every 24 hours. The point we were making was that some resorts will be updated more regularly than others (with a supposed update of at least once a day), and any changes that are made to the database are shown in every update - which is done every 3 hours. Thanks. -

Basically the database gets updated every 3 hours. If there is a change in the data at that time, it will automatically show up on the site. -

If there is snow 'today', then it may be 'tomorrow' before that appears - unfortunately info is not reported instantly in real time. Out of interest, on the days that you have been when it was snowing, and the data did not change that day, did the data change on the following day? But as you correctly noted, we supply official data that originally comes from the resorts themselves. -

A Solution for Hakuba
SnowJapan#Andrew replied to nzlegend's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Going to do a bit of quoting here... Quote: That's definitely creepy, and on reflection, I'd hope the Admin people would delete that sort of thing. We would appreciate it if somebody could point out the thread in question to us. Thanks. -
hakuba this weekend?
SnowJapan#Andrew replied to nekobi's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
If there are any people going to this event who: - a) would like to write about it afterwards for a feature; and/or - would be willing to take some SnowJapan.Com flyers over there to the event to spread the word about our site (we'll send them to you!) ...please do email us at editor@snowjapan.com! Thank you, sounds like fun! -
Thanks for the comments, far away. Please do tell your friends about our site. OK, to make you jealous - SnowJapan.Com HQ (!) is located in Yuzawa (Niigata), and many of our main contributors are located in snow towns - so we have lots of resorts in sight, and many more nearby. But just to make you feel a bit better - we are so busy running and developing the site, there's hardly any chance to get out onto the mountains.

Not directly no, but we've heard a few things down the grapevine about the "image" of foreigners being increasingly one of "troublemakers" at a couple of resorts. (Please note those are their words - not ours of course) In another case recently one other resort was not too receptive to us when we asked them about foreigners on their slopes, and any opinions they had on the market, etc. Whether that has anything to do with any incidents on their hills we are not too sure.
