  1. Great! Another expert! Quote: Can you read what you are writing? Er, yes. Can you? Quote: It is like arguing with 4 year old. You try to contradict thought out posts and opinions with empty blanket statements, completely overlooking the fact that some might consider any kind of reasoning or examples a good way to back up what you are saying. Er, no. Ah! Hold on a mo'.... you mean the thought out posts like... - "Let's bow alittle lower and make the onsen water more refreshing." - "I'm sure the reason for the increased ticket sales in all the other countries m
  2. smiler Hi there. Have you seen many changes at all with respect to your business, catering, and the resorts you work with? Are you inclined to tell us any more on that at all? ---- And no, I'm not losing any sleep, believe it or not.
  3. I am not trying to pick a fight at all, unlike some people. "Dude you are not nice" Have you not read some other people's posts? That's a joke! At the same time, I'm sure I wouldn't want to meet you either.... Big deal. I am not saying that I have the solutions - that is one of the main points here, and if you had read my comments throughout this thread you would know that.
  4. We have a guy that comes a couple of times a month selling badly designed ties. No-one ever seems to buy anything from him either, but he does seem to enjoy the chats and the coffee.
  5. Some of them aren't very good at aiming now are they?
  6. I had a tour of one once, very interesting it was. I certainly couldn't spend weeks on one of them things.
  7. Know what you're saying, mumbojumbo. Lightweight 'articles' like that only give more easy and ill-informed ammunition to the critisize-anything-know-it-all brigade.
  8. Sounds yummy How do we eat it - on toast?
  9. NoFakie, for a few reasons I'm not going to get into that here (I'm sure that will encourage some childish flames from some quarters, but if thats the case so be it). However, some of the resorts were open to hear ideas (not all of them were), and we did see a few small ideas implemented and were actually kept informed by the resorts.
  10. Davo, I don't mean to come across as overdefending the management, that's not my intention. I am just trying to give this some balance that is otherwise lacking, as per my previous comments. Essentially I agree with what you are saying.
  11. SkiBaka - perhaps you could also "read my posts" as you obviously haven't. These people pay you for your "advise" do they? And "except" it? What, some of those "billions" in Japan? Sounds like you dropped on REAL lucky there. My friend. Toque - er, I think not.
  12. A typical and predictable response of course. ------------------ Quote: Lift tickets purchased in this country for the last 12 consecutive years has declined. FACT Lift tickets purchased in US, Europe, Canada, Australia in the last 12 consecutive years has increased. FACT Those may well be facts. No-one is arguing any different from what I can see..... Although the direct comparisons with overseas markets, neglecting to mention the myriad of other factors that might come into play in Japan does seem more than a little simple. Quote: SKI, given the quality of the
  13. Quote: SKI Im good and ready to go work for a ski hill as a manger of sorts. This is what I went to school for. After working and living here for over 5 years and been in and out for 8 I can say with 100% that people here can not find answers for crap. Well, I just disagree. I think that getting rid of that cliched way of thinking might be a good start to communicating with resorts and starting a positive dialogue. Quote: Ski resorts here when I tell the lifties to get out there and organize a liftline they look at me like Im stupid. I have wrote comments before to resorts with
  14. I know what you are saying, but I have heard it all before. Especially the old cliche about Japanese management never listening, blah blah. It is just so easy to critisize an organisation from the outside without knowing much about it or the circumstances in which it operates - any fool can do that. And it's almost impossible for them (or anyone trying to) defend against that oh-so-easy "know-it-all, I could do so much better" argument. Quote: SKI I hate that line that you can change nothing that is half the problem in this country no one is looking for the answers. I believe
  15. NoFakie, yes, obviously that situation you mention above is ridiculous. (BTW, Ocean11, you still here?....I thought you'd buggered off?)
  16. Hurrah! Problem solved then! I just think it is easy to say these things, and the reality of the situation is more complex than you imagine. (By the way, I'm not trying to imply that all resorts are doing a really great job at keeping themselves alive)
  17. Americas David Brent has been chosen? ---- http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/jan04/usbrent.html EXCLUSIVE: A relatively unknown comic has been chosen for the role of David Brent in the American version of The Office. According to well-placed comedy sources, Steve Carell from Comedy Central's The Daily Show has been selected for the role, which could propel him to the same stardom in the States as Ricky Gervais has achieved over here. Originally from Boston, Carell cut his comedy teeth with the famed Second City improv group of Chicago. He landed the role of correspo
  18. Wheres that camel fellow from Chile who was with us a while back...?
  19. "LEAH BETTS DIED OF DRINKING WATER TO COUNTER DRUG'S EFFECT" I wonder if she considered not being a fool and taking the drug in the first place. That always has a good effect.
  20. No, not right. Americans, UK, Australia, NZ, Japanese.......
  21. Definitely not good, that. Never had that problem myself when I have stayed anywhere - I always seem to be able to have breakfast real early to get the first lifts....
