We've just got episode 2 of Heroes here in HK. Quite interesting so far but there's lots of hype about this programme. I find it funny that the Japanese "hero" in this soap is a short, chubby and pleasant looking young man named "Hiro"!

Snow machines being used now?

Don't have to be there, just one look at the webcams and I can say that the answer is "No" they are not needed in Hakuba, at least for now. -

No sunrise it is the same woman and two kids with whom I went to France last year. Her real husband, who is a Kiwi cop in Hong Kong, did not go last year either so during the trip I played the role of husband and father for everything except the "best bit". Actually, she only has one son and the other young man is his classmate whose parents also could not come and wanted us to take care of him. His father is Thai and his mother is Japanese and really really gorgeous. Too bad she never comes with us. Anyway, we are playing family again and the funny thing is that all four of us have differen -

OK, folks, snow or no snow, I'm booked to arrive in Hakuba for Apr 1 and will stay for a week. Since I did win the Hakuba Village Lift-ticket Giveaway, I hope I will be able to use it. Otherwise, I'll just have to spend my time stalking BCS and treating her hemorrhoids....oops, I mean hematoma if it isn't fully recovered by then. -

I'm just going with my wife and two sons. Maybe I'll bring a can of white spray-paint for the grass. -

Well, from my experience, some hotels do ask for your passport but it depends on the establishment. When I stayed at the super deluxe "Fatty's Lodge" which is famous for their good service, I didn't have to show anything except my face. There were no check-in queues etc. I was shown straight to my room. -

You can go to Sun Alpine anytime you want, wherever that is? I'm still setting my sights on Sun Alpina! I hope I don't jinx Couchevel as well, I'm going next week. Maybe my jinx only works in Japan. -

Yes, gamera, it's my fault for coming late in Easter. But I also came twice during Christmas and both times it was still not open. It will try to come in Jan or Feb in the future. -

I've always wanted to ski in the Sun-Alpina trio but every time I go to Hakuba, the snow conditions are not good enough so it is always closed! -

Quote: Originally posted by Bushpig: that report said about 50% to Hakuba were Koreans. That was the only passing comment they got. I'm just wondering how they tally their statistics. Not implying that they are inaccurate, just wondering how accurate they are. For example, when I bring a whole bus-load of people in from HK, nobody asked us where we are from. So were we included or not? Could they have thought we were Korean? In HK, the HK Tourist Association polls visitors at the HK airport and uses that for some of our tourist statistics. -
One of the nice things about Tomamu, if you are going on a day-trip, is that the closest ski-lift is literally 30 meters from where you get off the train I remember, but it could be more or less depending on which carriage you are in. And that ski lift is 20 meters from the station entrance. Teine and Kokusai are very close to Sapporo. Kiroro is a bit further away. I think about an extra hour away from Sapporo than Teine Highland.

Just satellite cameras scanning the Hakuba areas and zooming in on the places you frequent. And also a few CCTVs in your uchi especially in the otearai. No evil intentions though, just want to check up on the progress of your haemorrhoids. Besides, the camera automatically turns any naughty images into checked-squares.
