  1. Montoya... have you been lurking in my thoughts? Risk is my hobby and profession Quoting yourself and keba: Q. Do statistical odds accumulate? A. If you have a 1% chance of a bad outcome, then every single time you undertake the risk it is 1% Thats it. Basically think of Roulette or Backgammon: neither the ball nor die has memory. Every event is independent, there is no serial correlation between events (Autocorrelation). Throwing a 1 doesn't change the probabilities if throwing another 1, or a 4. It is random sampling with replacement. Veronica used to ask ab
  2. My town: not Berlin and no mountains or snow. This is outside my house. A bit lacking campared to Toque's , ne. Slow, are you still a trendy urbanist? The weather here is mild.
  3. No picture of the actual rubble, but my girl and I were returning down a narrow valley after a spring tour. I heard and saw smalls lumps of snow bouncing down this cliff. Then a short pause. And then wham, a huge pile of snow crashed down the cliff for a few seconds and buried the path we were on in a few feet on compressed concrete. We were literally some 30 meters of so away from the cliff and had just said "lets go that way". In our written tour plan we even noted the danger of cliffs and steep rocks in the afternoon warmth (a classic risk in spring). How quickly you forget you
  4. Make yourself useful, translate: http://06.dupraz-ch.com/index.php?topgroupid=1&subgroupid=72&groupid=50 and http://06.dupraz-ch.com/index.php?topgroupid=1&subgroupid=76&groupid=50 I'd ask the real Frenchman but he has a proper job and kids... far too busy.
  5. I will be putting the banana to it this season. The new 06/07 short Dupraz has been released. Take a good hard look at this baby. Oh god, I'm excited. Dupraz 165cm
  6. >Do you think that old glacier inyour picture is now a rock glacier? Or is it completly gone Ok, the remaining larger (but still small) patch of glacier above the brown stripe of boulders discussed above. This is extremely small and I suppose would have been the accumulation zone of the previously much larger glacier. To me it is novel as it is so very small and benign relative to the ones I normally see. And here is the final breath of another glacier. The upper patch is pure ice and the lower white bits are also ice with more air bubbles. There is ice under the rocks, but t
  7. I hope your first job posting is in Miami.
  8. Are you still on the Bruce Lee thing?
  9. I plan to ski more than snowboard this season. Serious, its my first season on skis and I need to make a dent in it quickly.... get up the learning curve then revert to a bit more balance between skis and snowboard. And I'm down for a backflip on the sticks as well. Any bet takers?

  11. Quote: Originally posted by slow: Frank Zappa?? Slow, don't be offended. This is Zappa (or one of his songs) I am unfairly taking this line from a Zappa song that was overworked due to its notoriety: "I can spend about an hour on the tower of power so long as I gets a little golden shower, Oh God I am the American dream, With a spindle up my butt till it makes me scream". The lryics from this famous song may offend. http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Frank-Zappa/Bobby-Brown.html Most of his songs where quite good, but as young guys in the last 80's we only listened to his stuff
  12. >I can see I'm, loosing you db... Perhaps you find it difficult to get past Page 3 of The Sun. I hope that was a joke to go along side mine.
  13. But I see them near resorts, and I wouldn't have thought the military would train with blanks near resorts? Come to think of it, I see them all over the bloody place. You may well be correct.
  14. >coleoptera Do you think she was as sexy as historical proxy records make her out to be? Without a photograph we will never know. I think she was hot.
  15. I’d ask you another question, but answering it might break your rate of 4 posts per year . Ah, what the hell. Are there different snow making techniques? Toque alluded to this above. From what I read, the French resorts use a method that makes slow-melting snow (thus damaging the underlying ecology as it hasn’t melted until late spring). Did you drive a Bully?
  16. I used to have a 1 hour 15 minute commute home (including walking between office and station and also waiting for the train). And that was just to reach my car. After that I had a 20 minute drive to reach my house. One day, 75 minutes after leaving the office, I arrived at my car and found I'd left my keys at the office. So 75+ minutes back to the office to get the keys then 75+ minutes back to the car. Then a 20 minute drive to my house. That was a long evening.
  17. Stop tweaking my avatar you pervert French bastard.
  18. >maybe it's insecurity Yes. That's what drove my very 'active' 20's.
  19. >sorry spud, i don't mean to hijack this thread of yours. perhaps soub we should "take this outside" No worries mate, keep the topic as its heading, no need to start a new thread. It’s moving in a more productive direction than the starting sentiment of ‘hey everyone, look at these pictures of my dog’
  20. Hey, I didn't make Misorano out to be a dog on heat slut, he did that himself I don't buy into the 'biology makes me do it' argument, it is gutless and harmfull. And it comes from the line of thought as this guys much more extreme opinion: Quote: "If you take uncovered meat and put it on the street ... without a cover and the cats eat it, is it the fault of the cat or the uncovered meat?" he said in the sermon to 500 people last month at Lakemba mosque. "The uncovered meat is the problem. If the meat was covered, the cats wouldn't roam around it. If the meat is inside the fr
