  1. Got to agree with ya there Ocean... Sato imo is definitely gross. I dont know what it is about that shit but it's sorta like you are eating a bit of soft rubber or something. Very yuck indeed. Tororo is a delicacy... who doesnt like that? At that price it should taste good. But the local izakaya isn't exactly the best place to order it! Mentaiko isn't much chop either. I am told it is good with Beer or shochu or something but I dont know, it is just the texture of that stuff. No good.
  2. C'mon Markie mate.... you cant actually like those high-pitched squeals that Japanese girls have? You cant be serious? Those voices cause permanent damage to your ears, you know! I know a guy who went out with a squeally-J-girl for a few months now... and she caused him permanent ear damage! The doc reckons he will be deaf by the time he is 25! Now does that turn you off then my friend Markie!!!??? I bet you that Echineko and akibun dont have awful voices like that?!?!
  3. C'mon nulla... you gotta think that that is the FIRST day of the season mate. I think you would know that the season here can start with way crapper now than that. OK, its not epic powder conditions but the sun is out and you have just dusted off your board that has been stuck at the back of your cupboard all the sticky, hot japanese summer and finally some snow... you wax your board and get your feet back! Sounds like fun to me!!!
  4. Its a question good Japanese speakers get asked all the time by newbies. And I really think its a great question to ask. These guys have got to where you want to be with your Japanese skills and what better way than getting their advice. So, getting an electronic dictionary is a great start. Sure its good to have a big fat one at home to look things up that you havent heard of before... but you can take electronic dictionaries anywhere, they are light in weight, and the words come straight up for you! When you finally get one you realise how stupid you were for not buying one earlier! Bu
  5. Gday D Train... just my two cents, but since you have been working in Whistler for the last 4 years why dont you do something different? If you are sick of japan then yeah get back to Whistler... but if you wanna see a bit more of the country then head down to Miyazaki and do the surfing thing man. Being able to surf can take you on lots of epic trips, just like snowboarding does. Except surf trips are usually a lot warmer but still of course involving the need to get up for the early, as opposed to waking up for freshies and first lifts. What about working in a resort in Nippon? Just a few id
  6. Echineko... "naughty" has a few different meanings. Firstly, there is the normal meaning being when you did something bad. For example, if you were staying at a pension or chalet on the slopes and ate all your friend's chips when he was out snowboarding. The other meaning is a bit more sexual in nature... and this is probably what he means. For example, you went out with 7 different guys in 1 week! Do you understand? Maybe your name implies this second meaning... but Im not sure!
  7. Echineko... you are very welcome to come "down under" any time you like! I am serious... I think there are a few Aussies online that would be willing to show you the sights! And one more thing... Aussies dont call Australia "down under". Its a tourist thing and I have never heard even 1 Aussie referring to our great country in this way!
  8. I wear a Patagonia jacket and Burton Tri Lite pants... the hood on the Patagonia jacket is awesome and the pants have all the glued and taped seams so they work pretty good although I probably need to invest in a new pair soon.
  9. I had fugu as carpaccio or was it sashimi? Anyway, it was very very good... but a bit pricey!
  10. Crazy nutters... Sick photos though. I wish I had balls as big as those crazies!!!
  11. So noone is a real regular up there? It would be good to hear from someone who loved the place and then someone who hates the place? I suppose everyone is different in what they want out of a resort so it depends on the individual for sure.
  12. I am sorry all you star trek and star wars nerds out there... but no matter how much I try I cant get in to either of them. I have tried... my best mate is a full star wars freak so I have been subjected to these shows for many years. Still no good! I just dont get it! ... I will give you one thing though, Yoda is a legend!
  13. Yuki's passion... I was actually at a mate's friends house and I hadn't met his folks or anything before and they come in to introduce themselves and say gday and I was telling my mate about our "(o)nabe" party we had the other night! He completely lost it ... rolling round on the floor and all the rest of it and then you should have seen his mum's face! It was a cackle indeed! My face went soooooooooooo RED and I am just like... "what? why?", aren't I just being polite!?!?! I learned from that day on to be careful with putting honorific "o's" before words!!!
  14. S_F_G... soccer is not for pussies. Its a game of skill and people who dont understand it are missing out. The rules are simple, the players are unbelievable skillful, and it is the most popular game in the world. Hence the name "the world game". I love rugby union, league and a lot of other more so-called "contact sports" but soccer is still up there. Even though are national team is a joke, did you remember how popular the football (as it rightly should be called) was over here when the world cup was on! Heaps of my mates got really into it, even though they were more footy heads than soccer
  15. Dont mind a bit of nabe in the winter... not "O"nabe as I mistakedly called it the first time I had it!!! Hahaha... but I have never had a real tasty one. Anyone got any suggestions? Raamen goes off in the winter... what else? Soups are especially good in the winter too. With some really nice crusty bread with it. But zebedee... I have to agree with you. Ice cream is great in the winter. A real nice haagen daz is the go for sure! Cant put my finger on exactly why I like it but give it a go and see how you like it!
  16. Yuki's Passion... I am not fatty. But I do know the guy. Lots of people over here, especially surfers and snowboarders, refer to Americans as "seppos". Its not really meant to be offensive so I am sorry if I offended anyone. Is "yank" or some other word better? Is the word "pom" offensive to Brits? Feel free to through any slang words for Australians this way!
  17. Yo Thunderbird! Do you mean "back" as in "backcountry" or the "bakku" they say in Japanese? I really hope it is the latter because that would be a bloody cack!
  18. Mog... What ya talkin bout mate? Niseko sucks. I mean who would like a place that has shite backcountry, shithouse lift system, gets tracked out in 5 mins... I mean the place is a ****en hole. Definitely stay away! The place stinks of bloody sulfur from those awful onsen things too... yuck. Dont go there! Everyone should definitely boycott the place!
  19. Echineko... I myself do not really understand "halloween". All I know is that the kids get dressed, go around the neighbourhood and try and scam lollies (or "candy" as those seppos seam to call it) and make silly looking faces with pumpkins! We dont really celebrate that over here in Oz so maybe a real seppo could kindly explain to you what it REALLY is?!?!
  20. Nori-chan... I think it might mean that too. Although I cant say that Im sure. Just weird, the way those poms talk. Can hardly understand them sometimes even we are supposed to be speaking the same language! Well sort of ... !
  21. Nahh... niseko is fully over-rated. Dont go there. Nagano is way better. It's like bloody Australia up there too mate. Avoid it! Choose somewhere else... def. you will find the goods!
  22. Naff? Who says that? Is that like a pommy word or something? What on earth does that mean? If it was "muff" then I would know what you mean... but "naff"... what is that???
  23. I have heard good and bad things about it too... but I will tell ya what, I have seen some awesome pictures of Craig Kella in the backcountry there. Huge pow turns... cutting through the trees over the back-side of the mountain it seemed! I had it on my wall in Tokyo for a whole year!!! Just couldnt take it down!!! It also seems to get a fair base each year... I wonder what the snow quality is like though?! I would be keen to give it a go though. I wonder how far it is from Maebashi-shi in Gunma-ken? My mate has a spare couch there especially for me to crash on so!!! Any takers?!
