  1. Lived their done that hakuba has too many resorts to chose from to be beat by the numata area.
  2. Its a little earlier than normal and so is the cold weather but hold on its an el nino year. This means the weather should be well who nows. Resorts wont open too much earlier as they dont see the money in it. I think it will be a better winter than last year.
  3. Dont listen to him or her open the mogski rental shop. If you ski buy some fatties
  4. Hey I will be heading for the annual trip to hakuba for New Years anyone else heading up. Last year was a blast good end of the year party at Snoed Inn too.
  5. Nice story. My friends were sking Out back once and one of them cut too hard up above and buried the other friend above the waist and in the trees. 2 other friends dug him out. And I know a couple of season pass holders, guys who died near the coquhala check point in Canada. They had rode the same area once or twice that day but a friend cut above them as they were hiking and 2 of them got caught in a slide with 1 breaking his neck. One of the best videos on avalanches is by the Colorado forest department. I think it was them videoing their own dept. skiing a line about 7 to te
  6. The same problem happens with riders too ocean footbeds make things more comfortable in any shoes. \My friends out in Canada who rode a lot bought footbeds for comfort.
  7. Took resort management at school and like any other business if it does not make money they will not open. Now there is sometimes an advantage in marketing to open early so some places will do it. That said most resort gear for a date or a little bit before and the staff is like they say not in place or not even there.
  8. I cut pics from my video and diji cam. Maybe I sent big ones meaning larger than they are suposed to be. My camcorder cuts them to 640 to480 size, is this to big. The quality is the same (low) because its off a video camera, the quality is about as good as its going to get on the web page, until I get a better editing program. Some other pics are off the wifes diji cam if they are to big tell me and I will try to size them down. Nick
  9. IF you get orthpedic beds they will hurt for 2 days and I mean hurt but then your problems will be solved. But these are only done by professionals, Doctors. Or ask to get your foot beds posted. This means getting the bottoms filled in with crok or something and the foot bed sits flat in the position you want. Last go to a small local race shop they know what they are doing a lot more than the big places. they should be able to fix the problem. PS "skis and Bikes" canada look up their email and ask them this question they can tell you the answer. Great pro boot fitters with loa
  10. Happo is famous for a run called rabbit a steep mogul run that some people ride all day. If you dont get to the top early on a busy day and you dont like moguls than well your out of luck. Most of the upper entrance sections are too narrow to begin with so they get turning ruts, big ones and icy. Its a little easier if you ski. That said boarders and skiers make the ruts so even if the resort had more the problem would be the same. The problem at the top around the lifts is in the design. Hit it on a non busy day and you can rack up huge vertical. YOu can link top to bottom mostly steep r
  11. OUfreeski2 lets get that New Years trip going on. I will try post those pics. Set yourself up on the insider and can slap your pow picks up from last year. Boys and girls in the kansai area if you want to get a group going on for sking/riding then post back. We are usally going by car to the Gifu or Nagano area. Second does anyone know if the Tokai Hokuriku jidosha has opened anymore of the highway.
  12. Looks nice. Like the reviews better. Take a few days to check it out more. how do I post my pics from Hotmail. I dont use my outlook is it easy to post by hotmail.
  13. I thought I did some things in the backcountry almost never change like a nasty ice layer or when things slide to ground mid season. I sure would like to know that.
  14. Bunch of BS there. I sure would like to know about nasty ice layers that aint going to go away all season. And what if the area your going to go to has slide to ground it would be nice to that too. Thus yyou might think about somewhere else. Go back to Canada 2 years ago we had the worst Ice layer in a 20 year span and the Avalanche Association spent a lot of time nd saved a lot of lives by pumping out info old and new.
  15. I want to fix this up crap I made alot of mistakes my mind thinks faster than I can type. There is a small resort medium maybe in the numata area. Sorry cant remember the name (Maybe snopal oguna Hotaka) . If you want I can find it by calling my old kendo sensei. It is connected by a ridge the highest peak is Hotaka mt. to Kawaba ski Jo. Anyways very cool place go off the top lift straight behind the lift there is a skin track skin up about 20 mins or so depending on deepness. Drop back down toward the resort many lines with nice small drops. YOu can stop halfway and get on the lift
  16. For Powder go to Niseko that said last year Hakuba had a killer Late December. Hakuba gets its fair share of snow better than a lot of resorts. You cant loose going to either I think. Steeps Hakuba pure Powder Hokaido.
  17. Any info shared is good info. Anyone who does anything outdoors knows this thats why we call aheadto find out conditions. Everyone has to do their own asessment once they get there. Im in for sharing peaker although we are a long way apart.
  18. Almost everyday on skis. But last season Febuary long weekend waist deep powder at Cortina. I snowed the whole trip. Whitewater on a good day, when your budy picks you up down the road.
  19. You wont get the Alps here but you can find some good spots. Bus trips train trips are easy Hakuba for selection Gumma for day trips with good snow. Just pick a region and ask for that info.
