  1. Another thread starter, gomen. Wondering what the deal is with fun skis - there was a discussion going on somewhere on this board and in the chatroom last night about them. Never tried them and was wonderering what they were like.
  2. The 3 times I have been out this season it has been decidedly NOT busy....even in popular places like Hakuba. What's it been like for you? Some of these resorts must be hurting big time. cal
  3. Best onsen I had was a sneaky midnight unofficial "mixed onsen" with my girlfriend in a place in Muikamachi. There's a good onsen near both the Mitsumata and Tashiro gondolas (Kagura)....
  4. I agree with the Kagura is best theory. GALA/Ishiuchi is also a good combination (Ishiuchi technically in Shiozawa Town). Naeba is good and with the link up to Kagura makes for a really big area. Heard there are big queues for the gondola as everyone wants to use it. Cal
  5. Terrible isn't it? Raining in many regions, warm - it's like spring people. Looking at the maps too it doesn't look like there is a huge chance of much snow over the next few days either..... No dumps in sight at all.
  6. I have only been to 2 places in Fukushima. One was Urabandai Nekoma and the other Grandeko. Of the 2 I easily preferred Grandeko, much the better place. I have heard ALTS is a fairly decent place too though.
  7. I actually started fairly late too - when I was 16. My parents took me to France and that's where I had my "hatsu taiken". Never looked back since then of course.
  8. The pay 1000 yen to park your car policy of most resorts gets on my nerves BIG TIME too. Luckily many of them - in an attempt to scramble some business from a dwindling number of riders - are throwing that horrendously overpriced and terrible policy out the window.
  9. We all pretty much know that already, gello. Have a great weekend folks! See you next week....
  10. Yeah I was just in there with lineski too. Great stuff...surprised to see 8 people in there - one logged on from Italy and one from Hong Kong too (!). Good stuff, thanks
  11. Wow....does that mean it is silence, or do they play other gems (like '80's AOR and Wham! etc)?
  12. Looks like the weather this coming weekend is going to be PERFECT. Great timing. It is going to be a good one.... Off to ZAO!
  13. Hey badmigraine, whats up on Sunday? Where are you going to be ridin'?
  14. Yes I do like them dumps. Still tired today after the riding and going back to work. Yeuck. Day off tomorrow to recharge! See ya
  15. Yeah I have just come back from a few days away, was a-w-e-s-o-m-e! Great conditions out there. More later, too tired to write now!
  16. Hey thanks for going to the trouble....you do look after us don't you!
  17. I just got back from Hakuba last night after a few days riding down the hills in the valley. I wish I had wipers on me goggles....it was dumping big time all the time I was there. But hey, I like the dumps as you may know, so can't complain there. Interesting to see that now we are all back to work, the skies open up and it all looks nice and calm again! Great place though. Best day was at 47/Goryu. Worst day at Happo-one simply because of the amount of white stuff falling down making it almost impossible to see where we were going.
  18. Under-rated? Hmm, Kijimadaira in Nagano, yes. I also feel that the Myoko region should get more attention than it seems to generally (with Japanese riders too). Fantastic area with a lot to choose from.
  19. Agree with Ocean11 on this one - something on the big side is probably the best way to go.....you can always grow into it too!
  20. Yes, I am glad to see the big dumps at last. I will be going out there from tomorrow for 3 days - Hakuba and Shiga - so looking forward to riding the dumps!
  21. Yes, yes, I do like those big dumps. Actually prefer hearing about them rather than being in the middle of them. Places like Hakuba, Shiga, Yuzawa do have crazy periods of snow at times, and I have seen amazing amounts of snow in 1 and 2 day periods over the last few years. Let it dump!
  22. (A little early) Happy New Year greetings to everyone on the board and the ski japan guide people. May it be a good one with peace being the big thing of the year. And big dumps of snow of course
  23. Guilty as charged. Living in the city does this to you. But it is true isnt it that places like Hakuba, Yuzawa, Shiga have not had the big 100cm in 24 hour dumps that they can have yet this season.
