  1. I tried watching 24 once or twice and found it boring. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood but it was no attention grabber for me. Anyone else not like it?
  2. Indo, is 'padlock Columbu' one to be wary of for any particular reason? The horizontal variety is still common enough, though most make it home these days, not so many taxi chits being redeemed down at the koban to make it viable behaviour.
  3. Chamonix, stunning in summer and you don't need to hike, just ride up in the cable cars and then walk along the tracks or down if you want. Fly into Geneva and you can do a side-trip to Verbier as well, or just enjoy the train ride round the lake on the way to Verbier. Also just a drive through the tunnel to Italy as well.
  4. Keep em comin guys. Kumapix, the trenchcoat is the perfect disguise for 'chikan Columbo' Girl:It was the guy in the trenchcoat Cop:Which one? Lucky for you Bushpig, 'comb over Columbo' is one of my favorites. Quite a few 'metrosexual Columbo's' in the city, it ain't just an oyaji gig by any means. I have the Sony MP3 player big-will. Have to download "Watching the detective's" by Elvis Costello to go with my theme.
  5. It's ok guys 90 minutes is the total, though it's sometimes a little more. That's including the walk to and from the station while I'm in the city. It's a small price to pay for living out in the burbs, next to the hills, and far from the mush that is downtown. I like the area I live in so much that I don't count my 5 minute bike ride to the station as part of the commute. It's not that busy and I always get a good position or seat on the way in as I live so far out. But...commuting still sucks.
  6. Buspig, let me know if you sight the extremely rare 'mask wearing nose picker Columbo'
  7. Commuting an hour and a half a day I tend to get pretty bored, but recently I have come up with a fun new diversion, and this I'd like to share. You know how so many people wear those jacket/tench coat things over their suits in winter. I always thought they were so dull and all part of the greater dullness that is commuting. It strikes me as wierd that all these people aspire to look like Detective Columbo off that cheese TV show. As it happens there's inevitably a site devoted to Columbo\'s trenchcoat , which, mundanely enough, is a raincoat. In my boredom the other day I sudden
  8. I'll support any NZ team and would be happy if either Southern team got it-odds for that are pretty good. Just got Internet Sky tv but haven't seen that many games. The French snuck in a last minute win last night. That poor Welsh guy will be wishing he had've run with the ball instead of gifting them the lineout, but hindsight is a pointless thing and he was doing what seemed safest
  9. Ahhh...miss burton...are you going to be the latest Japanese girl trying to tease the guys on the forum? We need to see pictures before we believe what you say.
  10. Why kiss the the arse when you can kick it eh Bushpig, stop bashing the Aussies, you'll end up hurting yourself.
  11. See you spud, don't be a stranger now, you're welcome back anytime.
  12. My living room unfortunately. Agreed snowglider, have been there 5 out of my pathetic total of sven days this year.
  13. Quote: We are proud of our criminal and anti-authoritarian cultural heritage. Getting loaded and stealing stuff in foriegn countries is normal behavior for us, not for the benefit of personal gain, but because it is fun. I once stole a police motorbike in Manilla and got chased around by the local cops armed with sawn off shot guns. It was a good hoot, I enjoyed it and offer no apologies. Ha ha! An Aussie tradition as seen here , actually one of those guys is a Kiwi, so he'll probably be deported back there. Not exactly the reversal of the brain drain Helengrad is looking for.....but I di
  14. Just found out I'm on the oyaji hall of fame-true enough I guess, although I only fit the age catagory listed above.
  15. Nice write up Kumapix. I'd love to take the advanced course but work and family obligations have made that difficult. Ditto all the comments about the worthwhile nature of any avalanche awareness course, and Dave's in particular. Everything I learnt on both days back in 2002 was of imeasurable value, but perhaps the best thing I learnt was that I didn't really know much at all. I still tend to rely on more experienced and clued up friends for issues such as snowpack assessment, which is just one reason why I'd like to go further with the training.
  16. Why don't you have another read Dorikin. There are some varying opinions in here about what seems to be a problem, though I do tend to think it's probably fairly minimal in the greater scheme of things. I'm sure most of the tourists visiting Niseko have nothing but a positive effect. Quote: Do people that invest in an overseas holiday have to behave in the way the local gaijin population expect them to? Not at all, and resort package holidays being what they are, it's only natural for people to want to get drunk, rowdy, and want to have a good time. You have to accept this as a
  17. Reading this about your olds brings to mind the classic statement mine always come up with: "Put some more clothes on if you're cold!"
  18. Cabbage is a great vegetable, particularly when served raw, as it has a slightly sweet yet crisp flavour. Quote: I think Piggy has a clear emotional bias against cabbage. When you were 15 did your gay piano teacher serve you it or something? Liberachie and cabbage
  19. Is 'bloody' a swear word? I don't think it really is any more, talk about hyper sensitive banning that. It's a bit cheese but definately not offensive and the imagery of the girl in the bikini will stick with me far longer than what she says.
  20. My Mission bindings are still going strong after about 100 days and I see no need to replace them. Totalled my Canyon board after 7 days last year due to an extemely hard stomping on a rock-didn't see this as a manufacturing fault, more like the lack of snow under a fresh dump of powder. Have a backpack which has served me well for a couple of years too. Still, you can't always trust a big name brand. I guess the bigger Burton gets the more mass produced it is. Still think it's pretty good gear from where I'm sitting, though I probably wouldn't buy a Burton boardagain unless it was reason
  21. Glider-you get all the luck. Philly Kid was getting lost eh. It was even snowing in Osaka just now, which makes Moday morning an even more bitter pill to swallow.
  22. I was 4.2 as well, no surprises really as I already know I use more than my share of resources if we take a global per capita share outlook. Very few people living in devloped countries would be able to claim a sustainable lifestyle based on this kind of survey. Although there are plenty of quantative grey areas in this survey, I guess it does give some kind of a clue as to what you're doing.
  23. SerreChe, I wonder if that's the slide saw up on the north face of Happo on Sunday.
  24. Unfortunately for me that seems to be the case. Still, I hope to get out there for at least one hiking adventure sometime in the spring.
