Well you were successful in "starting your new topic" werent you? The only thing I can say on this is....OK the best of the season is over. The snow will deteriorate from now. If you are willing to accept that and go out with that in mind, then there are another 6-8 weekends of riding out there. In usually excellent weather. I still think it will snow again a bit a few more times. But anyway. So you can choose.

It's true, but Japan more than makes up for it don't you think with variety, ease of access, snowbunnies (Japanese ones - surely the best in the world by far), and ramen. Well, maybe not the ramen.

Yes, its the other stuff that makes up the price in Japan. Tickets in themselves are not overly expensive compared to many other countries.

You certainly wont find pow conditions then, but want the best? Limited experience, but I have had some great boarding days at Kagura in Yuzawa (right at the top). Would be interested to hear of other places as well.

I'm for 47/Goryu too on this one. Nice resort area.

Yes, he crashed but so did almost everyone else - part of the fun of winter testing. They are in a modified 2001 car because the new spec is not "ready" (ie still testing components and don't want to compromise on reliability). The 2001 was so good though that it shouldnt be a problem for them, as yesterdays results seem to show. It will be VERY boring tho' if Ferrari just blow the comp away from the very start.

I go out about 10 times a year - each time to a different place, as much as possible. Been in Japan 5 years, so about 50 times? Wow, wonder how much that would cost!?

Just stay in and drink copious amounts of beer and wait til the slopes clear up a bit.

Got to agree. It is simply better to wait until there is some real snow and the mountains are covered, which will be in a few weeks probably (?). Going now will just be ultimately disappointing, so should be avoided.

Joules People are boarding now in Karuizawa and, from today, Tenjindaira (Gunma). Check out the news page on this site and that resort watching page...they have it on the site. Good to hear Hokkaido is starting too though.
