  1. sillywilly, what's the problem? If you look at the threads that include 'Nozawa', 'Hakuba', 'accomodation' etc., you should be able to find quite a bit of information. Also the reader's reviews of the resorts have opinions on the resorts. The individual resort pages have info on transport and links to the homepages of the resorts, which usually have maps. If you're having trouble looking at this BBS, maybe you need change the 'Show topics...' setting. And if you can't find what you're looking for then you can't be helped. Frankly.
  2. Perhaps you'd like to show your credentials by discussing the current marketing mix employed by Japanese resorts. Maybe you can explain the significance of the helicopters featured in some resort commercials. What could that all be about I wonder?
  3. You have a background in marketing?! I don't believe ya!
  4. I can jump 4 cm, about the height of an average futon. But I wouldn't jump for a rude girl like yerself... On my board, I have learnt the basic rule 'if you don't make the jump, the jump makes you', but applying it is the difficult thing, yesh. Indeed, I nearly broke my ankle on Saturday flying off a big slope under a chair lift, cartwheeling down and ending with the nose of my board buried up to my front binding. Pockeee! Ouch! Why what about yourself? Front legs, or hind legs?
  5. ron mc'd, are you or have you ever been a JET AET? Because I've heard that totally spineless attitude of lassitude coming from many a mealy AET mouth... You can see it as complex if you wish, or you could see it as being just a simple matter of businesses waking up to find themselves in a service economy instead of the 'build it and they will come' post-war period.
  6. "I'd rather be a hammer than a nail, tralala..." danz, nobody's bothered me at Nozzle, that's why I go there. If they did start bothering me, I'd be onto them sharpish. Having failed to find a pair of boots that fit me in the stores around here (yes, that's right, the big sizes SELL OUT, because people WANT THEM), I've complained to the management, pointed out that they have lots of other sizes unsold, and urged them to get onto the manufacturers. These people are so thick, they haven't even thought about things from the user's side, and sometimes they seem genuinely grateful to
  7. Damn right mogski! But danz, don't just learn to live with it, complain, or take your custom to some mountain that doesn't practise the double standard.
  8. Very small. It's up on the Venus Line (if that means anything to you). I think it only has one or two lifts, but it's reported to be pretty mental when there's fresh snow.
  9. danz, blinkeneck's thread is loooonger! These two threads are beginning to function as a user directory. Hey SJG heroes, maybe that would be nice - a searchable directory of users, with a bit of bio. If you have a spare moment that is...
  10. danz, sounds like you need a mountain board or some grass skis to ride that heap. Suwa has been getting some good snow recently, even during the warm period, so I'm planning to go up to Wada Toge in the next few days and check it out. It's only 30 min away - maybe qualifies as 'bottom of the slope'?
  11. Yeah well sillywilly, you clearly haven't read much of the site now, have you? The reader reviews of the resorts are full of information on precisely those resorts you mention, as are many of the comments on this board. There are suggestions on where to stay too, if you look. Pretty much the whole site is lamenting the recent warm weather, and you can find info on the current weather in, guess where, the forecast section. So silly, why not have a poke around and see what's here before you go posting inane questions of the type that pop up here, oh, at least once a week? That would be
  12. rach, once, when you were a little girl, you nearly put your foot down on an ant scurrying across the South London pavement, but you moved your foot sideways at the very last moment. And_that's_what you've done to deserve this, and we're all just the beneficiaries of that act of kindness. Yes, it's a miraculous world indeed. ........ Christ, I need to find something to do with myself soon...
  13. badmigraine, you still remember that tent fly? Sorry man, but it was the best tent fly I ever saw, and you were snoring like an old sow... I'll email it to you.
  14. cal, when you edited this, did you think maybe 5 wasn't enough and 6 would make your point better? mogski, you better learn how to make this smiley for next time you wanta grumble about the giveaways. ne, rach? Methinks we're going to be seeing rather a lot of this critter over the next few days.
  15. mogski, next year it's gonna be "Snowboard Japan Guide". The SJG boys have already nabbed the domain. (The ski giveaway is also going to be one of those white plastic kiddy sets, so skiers might as well give up hope now.) ------------------- Prankster General's Warning Jokes and humour can seriously p!ss some people off.
  16. Next time you get hassled by the patrol, why not go and complain to the management about excessive control, or poorly layed out slopes, or overgrooming, or whatever the problem is? I find that complaining in Japan gets results. Adopt an aggrieved but reasonable tone, ask for the manager, get his name, and promise a follow up call to check what action has been taken. There's really no good reason why resorts shouldn't cater to the desire to ride on something other than crud.
  17. hutch, that's 'happoushu' you're talking about there. It may not be real beer but it wets the whistle. Some of it (Brau for example) easily beats maiden's water like Budweiser and Super Dry. Jibiru is now quite widely available, and some like Ginga Kogen is reasonably priced. Those syrupy strong beers are horrible. What's the point if you're not just an alcoholic? I used to drink Carlsberg Special Brew in the morning when I was young and stupid until I found myself swelling up one day. All my joints puffed up so my arms and legs looked like sausages, and I couldn't put my watch on. A
  18. And that's before we get started on white collar crime and all the benefits that brings to the populace. Hard to blame all of that on foreigners, but we could probably try.
  19. Yeah, I've noticed a lot of activity between 9-6 on weekdays, with the weekend pretty much a dead-zone. I spend hours goofing off, which is prolly one reason I'm being fired. Got 3 weeks of holiday left before my contract expires, so you can guess where I'll be (no, not Hallo Waak). I keep getting on to the boys at SJG about disguising their site as something work related - I wish they'd replace those snowboarders with shots of men in suits shaking hands, career women leaning over computer terminals, spectacles placed on legal pads, y'know the sort of thing. The smilies menu is a de
  20. Court urged to spear cop to death SYDNEY (Reuters) An Aboriginal leader has asked an Australian court to spear a police chief to death for putting out a sacred fire, a newspaper reported Sunday. In the writ before the High Court in Canberra, Aboriginal elder Darren Bloomfield alleges Detective Superintendent Brian Hopworth "desecreated a fire ceremony" and also tried to run him over in a police car, the Sydney Morning Herald said. "(He should be) tried under white law and then handed over to us under our law, where he would be speared to death," Bloomfield said in the petition to the
  21. drunkard, it's always heartwarming to find a weekend p!sshead on a bbs! Happy daze... roller, you need to find yourself a company or school in Nagano, or get a metier that you can do freelance. Nagano isn't just the place to be in winter either - the other months are really nice too. Not too hot in summer, plenty to do. The weather's the best of any of the 4 prefectures I've lived in, with the most sunny days. Or you could live in sophisticated Tokyo (titter)
  22. I was there! I had a mad morning tracking out the last powder. The miserable sight of the melting snow at the bottom prompted me to get just a morning ticket, but at the top it wasn't bad at all. Nearly broke my leg this time with a radicule jump... Where are you going to Nozzle from, rach? I heard something about Kobe, but can this be tsuru?
  23. That would obviously depend on how cute you are... Most of the runs I know are through trees and involve bumps and jumps and so cannot be considered safe at all.
