Peaker, We are also very happy that both the site in general and the Forum have seen great increases in visitors over the last year. As you probably know, the site will relaunch in early November. There will be a lot of changes, one of which will be a reorganisation of the Forum - as you suggest....just please wait a little longer and it will happen In the meantime, if you have any comments concerning the site, the best way to get our undivided attention is to send an email to editor@skijapanguide.com - that way the messages gets directly into our inbox and it gets noticed b

How about a night out before the season?
Ski Japan Guide replied to grungy-gonads's topic in General off-topic discussions
Danz, thanks - I'd really like to get down there and meet people and party too. The end of November one definitely sounds good to me. It's fairly easy for me (Yuzawa) to get there, but quite difficult for Hokkaido/Yamagata/etc people.... Thanks Andrew -
New forum features
Ski Japan Guide replied to belle's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Hi Belle Thanks for the post. The best way to explain it is that the Forum is now setup differently, meaning that some of the registration details were moved around a bit. We do have number 1 as well, but created the "Ski Japan Guide" handle later on to make things easier - a few of us use that handle. Thanks SJG -
Check it out (details to be announced soon): http://www.skijapanguide.com/2002/specials/index.html

Ski Japan Guide replied to Mr Sensational's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Thanks for the data Ocean11. We've just heard that Fuji-san saw it's first sprinkling of snow today (hatsu-yuki) - 10 days later than normal. About time too, we say! -
Thanks to all of you who entered the Freebord Summer Giveaway. The winner has now been announced (check out the link below). http://www.skijapanguide.com/2002/specials/index.html Also look out for one more exciting giveaway on Ski Japan Guide before the winter season - details of that will be announced on Wednesday this week. Of course when the winter season gets going you can also expect weekly giveaways on the site with many prizes and winners. Thanks SJG

You probably know this Ocean, but for everyones benefit.. When you make a poll - and anyone can do that - you specify if other users must actually vote before being able to see the results of the poll. It's probably a good idea to let anyone who is registered to see the poll results without having to vote. Anyway, just something to keep in mind when you make a poll, poll-fans! Thanks SJG

We're glad you like it. Thanks for all the comments both on the forum and emails some of you have sent in. Further cosmetic changes to the Forum will be made when it takes on the new site "look" from Nov 1st. -

There is a lot of development going on, but you'll just have to wait a bit longer to find out about it all! We think you'll like it though

Hi danz Thanks for the comments. We're doing what we can to make the new site as fully loaded as possible...but there are of course things that we can and can't do for a number of reasons. Comments are always welcome and we ask you send them to editor@skijapanguide.com. The new site should be online Nov 1st. ..wasn't aware of that Ocean11, but we will check it out for you. Thanks Jon -
As the first stage in the improvement of the Ski Japan Guide website before the coming winter season, the SJG Forum (this board!) will soon be receiving an overhaul/upgrade. There will be a short period of time when you will be unable to use the forum as behind-the-scenes technical stuff goes on, but once we're back online you should be able to tell the difference! We hope you'll look forward to the using the improved Forum soon... SJG

Rod, Even with huge amounts of snow, you'll find that the main snow resort towns cope really well. After all, it's their biggest and most important time of year so they need to keep access open to get everyone on the slopes. Towns have, as Ocean11 said, convoys of all sorts of huge snow removing and distributing vehicles. Other towns have sprinklers in the middle of roads that are turned on before a big snowfall to try to keep the roads clear. When there is a major heavy snowfall that continues for a day or more, things do slow down and get very dangerous but for the mos
