  1. toyota sapporo. they do monthly rentals. so in your case, you pay for 15 days and you will get 5 days free.
  2. im still rocking my protec with audioforce from 5 years ago. should probably upgrade. another option for you.
  3. for snowboard boots i was told not to bother by my podiatrist and i never have a problem. spend 75 days a season riding with lots of skinning/hiking. i use specially molded footbeds in regular shoes.
  4. Both 2 antenna and 3 antenna beacons have to follow flux lines. The only thing the third antenna helps with is eliminating‘spikes’ where you lose the signal while doing the fine search. That being said, three antenna beacons are much better for the fine search and are simpler to use because of that. If you are new and your chances of practicing are marginal, you should not be getting into shitty situations. You have to actively choose to expose yourself to avalanche hazards so make the right decisions to avoid them in the first place. If you make a bad decision and someone triggers an
  5. i didnt cheap out on the beacon, it was one of the best 6 years ago when i bought it, im just too cheap to upgrade something that works perfectly well and im comfortable with. that being said, go 3 antennae but theres nothing wrong with 2 antennae either. this was what penny goddard told me when i asked her if i really needed to upgrade. she wrote the book on avalanche safety in NZ where i did my avalanche course. knowing how to use it effectively and being educated on avalanche terrain is far more important than what beacon you decide to buy.
  6. go 3 antennae. better chance of being found and finding. then practice lots and do a bc course. i have the bca tracker dts. would upgrade but im cheap. problem with upgrading is it will take me time to get as good at using the new one as i am using my current one which works fine.
  7. just bought goretex patagonia super alpine bibs and powslayer jacket.
  8. i wouldnt buy others clothes either but just think about all the times you've slept in hotel bed sheets.
  9. my point is that it wasnt a fitment issue as you like to think. and i do like dragons, theyre just not as good as other brands. simple.
  10. no. its the poor venting at the top of the APX design. me asian face and my white buddy and 2 girls is plenty of variety to exclude fit. i love the way they look, theyre just a major disappointment over my oakley crowbars and eg2s.
  11. its got nothing to do with the fit, its the design. the APX are terrible for fogging and rain and ive met 3 other people whove said the same on the same day we wore them. other dragons might be better.
  12. dont cheap out. theyre one of the most important pieces of equipment imo. im a massive fan of oakleys. dont get dragons, i made the switch because of their fancy looking no frame lens but theyre the worst goggles ive owned. going back to oakleys asap. try them on, with and without helmet. see which are comfy.
  13. hitting europe after japan is a major letdown unless your into ski touring. ive done it the past 2 seasons to extend my season and its almost not even worth it, definitely not in financial terms. depends what you're into though i guess. sunny days, apres, crowds, actual villages, chalets, brits. japan has not.
  14. 4 so far. 2 splitboarders and 2 skiers. feel free to join us. those 4 are doing the all in package (accom food etc) while i am just paying for the guiding. yes i am a bit concerned at the timing too but its what the they are offering so im gonna give it a go. ideally id like to go in march. Man....I lived up there for three years. Magseven is right ....bleak is putting it mildly. Wasted days and wasted nights better spent inland at Furano or Niseko or even around Asahikawa. You might hit a nice patch of weather but those are rare. Be prepared to hunker down and ride out the
  15. +1000000 but of course it depends what you want to achieve from your 7 weeks. to answer some of your questions. yes there are far better areas than niseko to spend your time. your accomodation budget is fine. its cheaper elsewhere. i found the backpackers in niseko had a lower quality of australian staying in them than elsewhere in japan. japanese immersion? dont go to niseko. how would i spend my time in japan? well i spent 12 weeks in japan last season travelling all over japan and hit 20+ resorts. this year im going to probably hit another 20 new spots. whether you want to do th
  16. from those who have climbed yotei which route did you summit from? general information on the different routes? will i need to bring my boot crampons/ice axe? im looking to climb it from makkarimua mid february given the right weather window.
  17. sounds like niseko is perfect for you. but its always nice to expand your horizons and have new experiences.
