Today was the first day of the Tokamachi Yuki Matsuri. Tokamachi is where I live, in Niigata. It's pretty famous - after Sapporo one of the big snow festivals. So I'm told. Lots and lots of things going on around town over the next few days. Lots of sculptures around town. By the time I got to the main area where they have a huge big stage, it was finished and covered up so couldn't take pics, but here's a few from around town this evening.

A week of warm coming up to so I would expect that to drop quite a bit. I wonder how that one near me is doing........

Rain today here. And it has been raining on all the snow sculptures for the Tokamachi Snow Festival this weekend. That's just not on, God!

...or any other kind of slogan in fact. Yesterday on the way back from Tenjin, we were driving through Minakami and saw this great big sign that said: ã„ã„人 ã„ã„é‹è»¢ Which translates as something like Good person/people! Good driving! There was actually another ã„ã„something in between those and neither myself of muika can remember what it was. Anyone? What IS the point?!

Overcast here this morning. Warm though.

That is good news.

I think stuff like that is pretty sad actually. Why are less people getting a life, so to speak. They need to get one.

I can vouch for muikabochi being very excited. It was really strange all this opening up business. Getting up there to the slopes at 20 past 9 or something and then having to form a queue as they test the lifts. Perfect weather. 10cm of snow overnight. No wind. What's their problem, why on earth had they not tested the lifts before? Testing seemed to involve a few staff going up on the lift. By the time they let us on there were 60 or so people lined up. Seemed like a real country bumpkin operation all round to be honest.

I put mine to recharge in the evening and take it out before I go to bed. Seems to work for me.
