Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 11cm Snowfall at base this season 37cm Posted on Tuesday 18th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Morning from Hakuba. And I do bring you some decent snowy news. Here are the 'fresh snowfall' headlines - this is information coming from the resorts themselves. Hakuba Goryu: 10cm Happo-one: 20cm Hakuba 47: 15cm base; 25-30cm up top Hakuba Cortina: 25cm base; 25-30cm top (And I have 11cm to add to the reports here). So it looks like there should be a decent fresh layer up on the mountains this morning. :) More of 47 opening with the R5 and R6 courses becoming available. I would expect some more to open up but info as I have it early this morning is as below. I'm hoping for another snow report tomorrow, though right now there is quite a bit of blue sky though the mountains still are covered with lots of cloud. Terrain remains limited, but it should be fun out there this morning... • Hakuba Now: Monday 17th December 2018

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 26cm Posted on Monday 17th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . 3cm of fresh snowfall on the ground. Happo-one are reporting 10-15cm on the mountain and Cortina are reporting 3cm. It is keeping mild but hopefully that ends during the daytime today and we can get stuck into some fresh snowfall from tonight through into the middle of the week. (I'm trying hard to ignore the warmer temps and rain looming on the forecast for late week and Saturday. Go away!!) For the moment there is a lot of cloud around but a fair amount of blue sky on show too. I imagine the clouds to gradually increase and win the day, rewarding us with snow by tonight. OK, so the only resort operation change that I can confirm this morning is that Hakuba Goryu have got their Toomi pair lift moving in addition to the quad lift. That's not opening up any new terrain though. I'm really hoping to bring you a snowy report tomorrow. ----- Ski resort information on Monday 17th December 2018: The below info is checked manually each morning and believed to be correct at time of report Hakuba Happo-one Operating lifts: - Adam Gondola - Riesen quad Available courses: - Riesen Slalom course Official snow depth: - Kurobishi: 40cm - Usagidaira: 40cm - Lower: 10cm ----- Hakuba Goryu Operating lifts: - Toomi Sky Four quad lift - Toomi Number 1 pair lift - Gondola (* but only for sightseeing, not skiing/boarding) Available courses: - Toomi Official snow depth: - Top: 30cm - Toomi: 30cm - Iimori: -cm ----- Hakuba 47 Operating lifts: - Gondola (for transportation to and from open area) - Line AB pairs Available courses: - Route 4 Official snow depth: - Top: 30cm - Base: 5cm ----- Tsugaike Kogen Operating lifts: - Eve Gondola - Han-no-ki high speed lift Available courses: - Han-kou Official snow depth: - Tsuga-no-mori: 50cm - Han-no-ki: 50cm - Maruyama: -cm - Shirakaba: -cm - Champion: -cm - Oya-no-hara: -cm - Kane-no-naru-oka: -cm ----- Hakuba Cortina Operating lifts: - Number 2 quad lift - Number 4 pair lift Available courses: - Ikenota - Hieda Forest - Mt Hieda 1 - Itadaira Official snow depth: - Top: 80cm - Base: 40cm ----- Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Operating lifts: - Gondola --- but it's for sightseeing, not skiing/boarding Official snow depth: - Top: 15cm - Base: 15cm ----- Hakuba Norikura Onsen Operating lifts: - Official snow depth: - -cm ----- Hakuba Valley Kashimayari Operating lifts: - Number 2 pair lift - Number 6 quad lift (for transportation) Available courses: - Course 2 Official snow depth: - 30cm Hakuba Now 2018-2019 season Data as of Monday 17th December 2018 Total snowfall at base so far 26cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 4 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 12cm (14th December) November 2018 snowfall 0cm December 2018 snowfall 26cm reported on 4 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. The resort will open the Kitanomine side this morning. The Kitanomine quad lift and Kitanomine 2 chair will be operating and the skiable trail will be the Rinkan course only. Due to minimal snow coverage the front face of Kitanomine will not open. The link lift will also operate connecting both sides of the resort. • Shiga Kogen Now: Saturday 15th December 2018

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 14cm Snowfall at base this season 40cm Posted on Saturday 15th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from Shiga Kogen. Snow is falling. And such lovely light snow too... being blown around by the wind, though not as windy as yesterday. So it makes it difficult again to measure with more and less in areas depending on where you are. The resorts themselves are reporting 10-15cm of fresh snowfall on the slopes, and I am measuring 14cm for my report. I suspect it is more than that. We need much more to get going big-scale of course as things remain rather limited, but there are some more lifts opening this morning. We probably can't expect much snow from now today (even though it is snowing nicely as I write this), and there looks to be a chance of sun tomorrow with the next decent snowfall due early in the week. For now though, the snow we have is nice and I'm going to go ride it! The below information is manually checked for each report. Official snow depth numbers are as reported by the ski resorts themselves. Ichinose Family - Official snow depth: 30cm - A 600m stretch of course is open - Ichinose Number 2 pair lift A / B Kumanoyu - Official snow depth: 30cm - A 1,300m course area is open - The Number 2 pair lift is operating Takamagahara Mammoth - Official snow depth: 25cm - The lower part of the main course is open, 300m in length - The Takamagahara Number 2 triple lift is operating Yakebitaiyama - Official snow depth: 40cm - 960m long South Course - 850m long Karamatsu Course - Number 2 high speed lift - Number 4 romance lift Yokoteyama - Official snow depth: 15cm - Part of the Yokoteyama Number 1 and Yokoteyama Queen Number 5 courses - Yokoteyama Number 1 Sky B lift - Yokoteyama Number 5 lift Other areas of Shiga Kogen are not yet open at time of writing. • Nozawa Now: Saturday 15th December 2018

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 34cm Snowfall at base this season 78cm Posted on Saturday 15th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . A very good Saturday morning to you from Nozawa. I have very Nozawa-like snowfall to report to you this morning. During the day yesterday up until 3pm the resort was reporting 15-20cm of fresh mountain wide and this morning add another 13-25cm on top of that, so that's 28-45cm (bottom to top). I am measuring 34cm. Very nice. More lifts and more courses are open from this morning too - as noted below - so there's a decent part of the mountain now open... most of the upper area (not Skyline) and part of the lower Hikage area. The two areas are not connected by skiable terrain, so if you go to the upper area you will need to get the gondola back down. For now.
