Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 89cm

Posted on Tuesday 18th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa.

Some sun was shining through yesterday but overnight the snow clouds have come back and delivered us with around 10cm of fresh snow (the resort is reporting 10-20cm mountain wide). It is still snowing now and looks like there's rather limited visibility on the mountain.

More opening too with the Schneider and Challenge courses now available so there's a lot of terrain open and we're doing pretty good... though a few more decent dumps of snow would be most welcome. (Aren't they always?!)

The forecast seems to be showing the chance of light snow on/off over the next few days with still the chance of some rain here and there are temps get a little warmer towards the weekend. Hopefully we get over the hill there and drop down and get decent snowfall in time for Christmas.
